Slik SBH-120 DQ overview

  • 1Description

The Slik SBH-120 DQ Compact Ballhead 120 with Quick Release is a compact and lightweight ballhead that will support up to a lightweight to medium SLR system. The head features an easy to use single-lever release that locks the camera into place with one single action. In addition, it also features a handy quick release system which makes the connection and removal of the camera a "snap."

Differing itself from many inexpensive ball heads on the market, the base of this head can rotate (pan) in addition to the ball movement. This makes horizontal movement of the camera much faster and easier.

    Slik SBH-120 DQ reviews

SBH-120 DQ Compact Ballhead 120 with Quick Release - Supports 4.5 lbs (2kg) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great small ballhead I use this Slik ballhead with my Panasonic GX7 (micro 4/3) system on a monopod. It holds my camera and lenses (even my Panasonic 100-300mm) very steady, with no signs of creep. The quick release plate snaps into position quickly and easily, and it won't pop off unless you push the release handle all the way open. So it is very unlikely to open even if the release handle gets caught on something and opens part way. The single knob holds the ballhead steady with a slight twist. The only thing you have to be careful of, is that a slight twist in the other direction unlocks the ball head fully, so the camera can flop around if you are not careful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All in the family.... This was simple; I already had a Slik SBH-100DQ ...the 120's baby brother ...mounted on a Slik Sprint Mini tripod and these two ballheads share a common shoe. For as sturdy as the SBH-100 is, the 120 provides just a bit more grip. I found the 120 to be more suitable for use with larger lenses on my Nikon D40. While the 100 works great with the basic kit lens (18-55), it is a bit overworked with the heavier companion lens (55-200). I really should have bought the 120 for the tripod. The SBH-120 ballhead was bought in conjunction with the purchase of a Sunpak Pro 724M monopod and the combination works quite well. Yes, you can spend *a lot* more money on a ballhead, but for flexible use on a monopod the SBH-120 is hard to beat.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid ballhead for the price Performs great and holds in place wellquick release plate bushing is kinda lame. They used some generic cork material which there isn't a replacement cork material once it wears out. Basically just buy a whole new plate, or go to hardware store and buy cork-like or rubber and make the gasket yourself. Seriously how are they gonna make a decent ballhead but forget to make replacement parts for the quick release plate? I still give it four stars because it performs welleven though cutting out the gasket to replace the wore out one is kinda annoying.YOLO

Rated 4 out of 5 by from trusty The ball head kept my camera in position well, it also was trustworthy of keeping it from falling. My only complaint would be that I used it for a Space Shuttle Launch and needed to quickly change positions. The levers are small and hard to change on feel only. I wound up picking up the whole tripod instead of rotating the camera on the head. If you are not needing to change position in less than a second, it is a very nice choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great For my Set up....May work for you This Quick Release was used on my DYI DSLR camera Rig, The great thing about this quick release, is its inexpensive Price tag, the ball swivel that makes it great to adjust to multiples positions to serve your need on that angle your looking for, the only improvement that would of made it a bit more helpful in my application would of been if the ball detached from the base which it did not, but Overall served Well for my application.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect size, smooth operation I bought this to use on my Slik Sprint Pro II tripod. It's matched in size to that unit perfectly, ideal for travel with my micro-four-thirds gear. My only beef, admittedly minor, is that the QR plate has a slotted screw and tightening it requires a coin. Slik's larger units have a flip-out handle on the screw. Since I'm broke a lot of the time from buying more camera gear, I like the latter arrangement better. In all seriousness, though, this is a very nicely made compact ball head, another fine Slik product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent light weight ball head I like that it will work on either my small travel tripod (1/4 mount) or my large one (3/8 mount). The movement is smooth. The quick release plate is very secure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly small but still great! Very solid. I fix my camcorder in just one click and never think about positioning or framing. Once setup it holds this position. Rock solid. Also it lets me play with camcorder with very wide angle range. I use it for Panasonic SD90. It is really great for it. Although I would not try to use it with Canon GL2, since this one is huge and heavy and there are bigger and better supports for that purpose.
