Pelican 1740 Overview

The Pelican 1740NF Transport Case without Foam (Black) is an unbreakable, watertight, airtight, dustproof, chemical resistant and corrosion proof hard case used to carry any kind of equipment that needs to be protected from impact damage. It is made of Ultra High Impact structural copolymer that makes it extremely strong and durable. It has a 0.25" (6.4 mm) neoprene o-ring, easy-open double-throw latches that seal perfectly. It includes an automatic purge valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure.

The 1740NF comes with 2 haul handles and built-in polyurethane wheels with stainless steel bearings. The padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft.

This case has an empty interior.

I got my new Pelican 1740 the day before I was to leave for Barcelona Spain for a week long conference. The Pelican case offered me more room and length than my previous fabric tripod case. I fit two large tripods, one light stand and a monopod with tons of room to spare. I packed most all my clothes in Zippered travel bags and packed all around the tripods. It is a big case and kind of heavy. I always have to make sure I can get a luggage cart to get from point A to B once I get to the airport. I checked this case along with two other larger Pelican cases. Even though it weighted over 60 pounds, Delta Airlinea had no problem and did not charge me anything extra. It’s a great case but is a big beast of a case and lugging it around would not be fun and so a cart is a requirement for me. But once you are settled at your destination it’s so nice to have.

It's long enough to fit all my stands and tripods. super spacious inside and i know it'll be fine on any flight.

Would this fit Matthews 40'' turtle and would 1770 would be an overkill?

You can fit several Matthews Turtle Base C-stands in this case, particularly when traveling by plane.

Does someone make padding for this case? I do not want foam, I have worn through the foam already and want to replace it with something better.

No other type of padding is made specifically for this case. Pelican foam is the only fitted, manufactured replacement.

Would this case fit 2 Arri AS2 light stands?

The Pelican 1740 cases has interior dimensions of 41 x 12.9 x 12.5 inches so it would easily fit more than 2 Arri AS2 light stands.
