Manfrotto Alu Compact Stand Overview

This is a Manfrotto Alu Air-Cushioned Compact Stand. It rises to a maximum height of 7.7' (2.3 m). Formerly known as a "Stacker", this stand now has what is called the QSS - Quick Stand System. When folded, two or more of these stands may connected to each other to ease storage or transport.

Air cushioning protects fingers and mounted equipment. If the stand sections are not sufficiently tightened, mounted equipment eases down to minimum height instead of slamming down suddenly.

Versatile Top Spigot
Baby (5/8") spigot is topped with a 3/8" thread, that thread is topped by a removable 1/4-20" thread

I've used Manfrotto stands for many years but needed stands that could collapse into a smaller size. These fit the bill and are very sturdy as well.

I've only used once so far. They feel flimsier than what I'd expect from Manfrotto but I assume that's because they were going for lightweight. So time will tell if the strength and durability is there or not. Compared to my other stands (most pretty cheap) they don't come off as remarkable. No immediate satisfaction for paying for higher end stands. The locking together is nice but that isn't reason enough for the price IMO. They do work just fine though.

Can this hold a lighter strobe like a Godox SK400 for indoors use? Wanted to buy 2 of these for background lights

Yes. The Godox SK400II Studio Flash Monolight weighs 4.6 lb (2.1 kg). As the Manfrotto Alu Air-Cushioned Compact Stand (Black, 7.7') has a maximum load capacity of 11 lb (5 kg), it will be able to support the weight of the Godox SK400II monolight fixture.

will they hold a strobe light (like an Einstein 640) and softbox securely?

This stand should be fine indoors for that but would suggest getting a sandbag or some weights on base if using with a softbox outside if there is any wind. Just me being cautious. Hope that helps.

Unfortunately, these stands can only stack with the same type of stand. For example, you could stack 3 1052BC stands together or 1051BAC stands together.
