The Elgato Systems USB Analog Video Capture Device is a compact USB device, perfect for converting analog video to a digital format. You'll be able to use the device to capture old home movies, VHS recordings, or any other analog media to a modern digital format. Simply plug your playback device into the S-Video or RCA composite input of the device, and capture.

Video is digitized into a format that is compatible with iTunes, any iPod, the iPhone, the Apple TV, YouTube, and iMovie. Capturing VHS to Digital

This was an amazing find! I tried a super cheap version from Amazon and it didn't work. The cost for this one was not much either, but I felt like it had a stronger chance of working and it did! It's been fun to capture old VHS recordings to smaller clips.

This is probably the most reliable and amazing product Elgato has created. Technology is advancing fast but this truly helps to give us a glimpse into the past. I'm the youngest of 3 children and currently 34. My parents have a number of VHS tapes of our family from the early 90s. During the pandemic, I bought this and converted several of the tapes to a digital format using this device and after finding more tapes, I'm currently in the process of doing more now. Unfortunately due to age, my parents' wedding video was already ruined however this device has allowed us to view those early memories again. It's crazy looking back and seeing what life was like in the 90s, the technology, clothing, aesthetics around our house, even the real Christmas tree! Life moves fast, technology even faster and this has helped to preserve forgotten memories. The device itself is super simple to set up and the software is easy to use too. Everything from opening the box to installation and converting the format / encoding to a PC is efficient. You do need a working VCR though. Would 100% recommend for anyone looking to convert VHS to a digital format.

UAB 2.0 is a rather slow connection so live video during transfer is not supported unfortunately.
