Cavision SGP535R Reviews

Probably the best boom pole in this price range

Things I Like: - Great length - Light and easy to maneuver - Material doesn't invite significant handling noise - Allows for an internal coiled cable - Rubber bottom, side-hole allows for resting the pole on ground/foot without cable damage - Feels sturdy; knuckles seem strong Things I Don't Like: - Adding an internal coil can be difficult (top hole/casing is VERY tight and difficult to run the end of XLR through unless you dissemble the cable end) - Collapsed length is slightly longer than other boom poles in this range, doesn't fit all cases well - Knuckles can be sticky, meaning you have to struggle a bit sometimes to extend and collapse (but they do hold strong when set) I've tried a few other poles in this price range (E-Image BC12, Marantz CF11C, cheap Chinese imports from eBay) and the Cavision has so far been the sturdiest and most convenient to use. Overall, as an 11ft boom pole under $200, you can't really go wrong with this. Any of the cons I listed are going to be common in other poles at this price, so its hard to complain about this one.

Very good quality

question

Hi ...., another question ...., the boom pole includes bag?
Asked by: Mara C.
The Cavision SGP535R does not include a bag. You may consider the Auray neoprene boompole bag (B&H# AUBPB34) as a viable option.

question

What is the Mixed Fiber material exactly? Is it as good as carbon fiber?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately Cavision does not offer the exact make up of their mixed fiber. Generally this will contain another component such as fiberglass which will offer a less costly alternative to a pure carbon fiber pole and still offer similar durability and lighter weight over an aluminum pole.

Which coiled cable would work best with this ...

Which coiled cable would work best with this length?
Asked by: john
B&H does not offer an internal cable for the Cavision SGP535R 5-Section Mixed-Fiber Boompole with Removable Top (11.5') at this time. To outfit this pole with an internal cable would require a custom cable be made.
