Rolls RPQ160b overview

  • 1Description

The RPQ160b from Rolls is a single-channel, 4-band parametric equalizer with high- and low-pass filters. The 4 bands have a combined overlapping frequency range of 70Hz to 20kHz. The single rack space unit features 3 different input and output connectors to accommodate a wide variety of applications. T filters are used for the equalization circuits to avoid the complexity and distortion of state-variable filters.

The EQs precise equalization makes it suitable for many applications, including school or church gymnasiums, home or professional recording studios, live sound or the EQing of musical instruments. When coupled with a spectrum analyzer, the RPQ160b can match exactly the properties of typical acoustic resonances and reflections, and make immediate improvements to any installed system's amplitude and phase response.

    Rolls RPQ160b reviews

    RPQ160b - Parametric Equalizer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Precise and Reliable Eq Does exactly what it is told. Hardly any noise until you crank level, of course. Very precise, very sensitive, very good. Not beautiful but it's extremely functional. The knobs are pretty sturdy, you could drop it a few times and be fine, pretty durable overall.I'm a bassist and I use it for eliminating room harmonics and buzz but also as a conventional eq, which it is also very effective at. Very defined lows, very rich mids, and singing highs. Puts the gain right where I need it for a little growl as well ;) In summary, a great product not only for it's price but probably 100s of dollars more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed in Overall Quality I purchased 3 to adjust the EQ for the front channels of a music-only system, using pre-out and main in. The resulting sound was excellent and quiet, but after 3 weeks one developed a 60HZ hum and another developed a loose control. I could accept the misspelling of Equilizer on the manual, and got over one having on the front panel. But all 3 ended up being returned within 30 days due to the above problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean, functional, great value I use a pair of the RPQ160b's for room resonance reduction. Very low harmonic distortion - didn't seem to add anything to the sound quality of my system. Great price given the functionality and sound quaility.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly affordable Parametric EQ Excellent EQ. Really astounded at how inexpensive it is. I use it in my bass rig, specifically to control around the 3k range. Makes a world of difference, and works like a much higher-end piece of gear (like those in the $2k range). Does not falsely color the tone in any way (I'm also a sound engineer / producer).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I use this as an insert on a mic channel to help EQ a sensitive condenser microphone. Works great!
