Rolls RPQ160b Overview

The RPQ160b from Rolls is a single-channel, 4-band parametric equalizer with high- and low-pass filters. The 4 bands have a combined overlapping frequency range of 70 Hz to 20 kHz. The single rack space unit features 3 different input and output connectors to accommodate a wide variety of applications. The EQs precise equalization makes it suitable for many applications, including school or church gymnasiums, home or professional recording studios, live sound or the EQing of musical instruments. When coupled with a spectrum analyzer, the RPQ160b can match exactly the properties of typical acoustic resonances and reflections, and make immediate improvements to any installed system's amplitude and phase response.

Rolls RPQ160b Reviews

Poorly manufactured knobs

Rolls RPQ160B: The low shelf filter knob appears to be defective. Turning it makes a scratching sound, as if there were a metal spur. The unit's craftsmanship: The unit's knobs feel inconsistent. Upon turning, some un-impress with a metal-to-metal, noisy feel. Others offer a lubricated, smooth and pleasant turning experience. Why? These knobs should be of the same quality.

Disappointed in Overall Quality

I purchased 3 to adjust the EQ for the front channels of a music-only system, using pre-out and main in. The resulting sound was excellent and quiet, but after 3 weeks one developed a 60HZ hum and another developed a loose control. I could accept the misspelling of Equilizer on the manual, and got over one having rolls.com on the front panel. But all 3 ended up being returned within 30 days due to the above problems.

Is this a unit with a +4dbu line level signal or a -10dbV line level signal? Secondly, if it operates on a -10dbV line level signal, can it be used with professional audio gear or must certain precautions be taken? Thirdly, is it switchable?
Asked by: Christian
The Rolls RPQ160b - Parametric Equalizer features a +22dB max input and output level, which does not appear to be switchable. Further information can be found via the product's manual: https://bit.ly/3il7z2P
