For fine art photographers looking for a matte medium that can deliver a wide color gamut with a natural color, Epson has developed Hot Press Natural Paper. Made from 100% cotton rag and using a hot press production technique, this paper features a smooth matte finish. The heavy weight of 330 gsm, thickness of 17 mil, and opacity of 98% further give this paper the look and feel of a true fine art paper. Also, by forgoing the use of optical brightening agents, this media will offer a warmer, more natural coloration that is less prone to degradation over time. Designed for longevity, Hot Press Natural is free of acid, lignin, and chlorine and is pH buffered.

This paper is available here as a 25-pack of 17 x 22" sheets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photo Paper that makes your prints Sexy I use the Epson Hot Press Natural Smooth Matte Paper for all of my digital photos because its a solid paper that wont jam in the printer and has great color quality. I am a photo student in college and I first came across this paper when I ordered a sample pack through the Epson store because I didn't know what I would like. Needless to say I have been hooked on this paper ever since. The only con I have to share is that after printing DO NOT touch the print for it will smudge... the ink needs to have time to dry but its totally worth the wait because the print quality is so amazing and it makes your photos look sexy and desirable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Go-To Fine Art Paper I use the Epson Hot Press Natural (all cut sizes up to 17x22) for most of my fine art prints. The paper is slightly warm toned and smooth, and has great detail sharpness and color range. It prints well in my Epson 3880 through the rear manual load tray. Handling is much better than other matte fine art papers I've used. It does not flake, so I have found I don't need to brush or blow off the surface prior to printing, and the surface is more durable after printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent! I love this matte paper. The texture is beautiful and subtle and the paper has a nice warm tone to it. It is particularly great for images that contain a lot of black in them; the black space in the image looks much softer and less dense than it would on a luster or smooth surface. This paper also does not have any optical brighteners added to it so it will not get a faded look with time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth As Silk The paper produces a great subtle and totally even matte finish to pictures giving them an almost painted look after printing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet! A Flawless Product Excellent! Like others, I use this in various sizes up to 17x22 on my Epson 3880 with spectacular results--excellent detail, deep, rich blacks, smooth tonal transitions and strong highlights. There is a beautifully subtle surface texture that doesn't compromise image quality at all and avoids that strangely pasty appearance that is often present with smooth matte papers--i.e. prints look like they're printed on paper not some hyper-smooth mystery substance. The prints are perfectly flat with no curl. I haven't done much color work with this paper, but what I have done has been excellent.Recently I made 50 prints for an exhibition that also included several much larger prints (44 x 64) that had to be printed commercially. Since the top of the line Epson papers are made in large rolls for commercial use, it was easy to insure consistency of the paper for all the photographs exhibited. (The great technicians at my excellent local photo lab had to work very hard to equal the image quality achieved with my 3880--a testimonial to that printer). The surface quality of the prints on Hot Press Natural is very durable and its absorbent surface is very forgiving if a nick requires a bit of spotting. For safekeeping, it's best to let prints sit for a couple of days to let the ink set thoroughly--though I've never had a problem when I haven't been able to do that.Lastly, THREE CHEERS to Epson for their phenomenal packaging! The paper comes packed in heavy duty boxes with an internal, cardboard box frame around the perimeter that protects the paper in transit--never a damaged corner--and the boxes have a long after-life for storage and shipping purposes.(Maybe Epson is listening to this...) Beautiful as your new black boxes are, I wish you hadn't switched from the white ones because the tops and edges were so easy to write on, enabling one to retrieve a box of particular stored prints out of a stack of many with a simple note made with a Sharpie.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BWElegance I have been using Epson HPN almost exclusively for BW photographs for about 4 years now--I guess since it came out and i discovered it. Several exhibitions in serious places, university museums and various galleries and it often is the cause of compliments and questions about it. I use an Epson 3880--and always print using Advanced BW. For exhibitions I have had large prints made professionally (up to 9 ft) on Epson HPN on my photo lab's large printers so the visual compatibility is perfect! Tough and durable, it lies flat and doesn't curl as so many others do. The slight texture is gorgeous, better to my eye than smoother papers and I prefer (personal choice) the Natural to the Bright. Tones and contrast are great too--incredible blacks. Reasonably priced too. For some reason it doesn't work as well for me in color. I do not know why. I generally print color on another mfr's gloss paper for greater intensity of color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from nice heavy weight paper We use hot press for many of our fine art prints. Any image where the texture of cold press would be a problem will be printed on hot press bright or natural. These papers are heavy and have real substance to them. They have nice smooth surfaces and show the color very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always excellent quality This is one of the finest inkjet papers for fine art and documentary inkjet printing. I've been using it exclusively for my work and find it above and beyond the quality of other competitive papers. It's perfect for creating beautiful and warm intimate portraits.
