It enables musicians to tune acoustic and electric instruments with its visual graphic display, or audibly with the PT-7's tone oscillator and built-in speaker. It also features a metronome that utilizes the graphic display, built-in speaker, and the headphone output. The PT-7 is capable of recording 20 minutes of audio with its built in microphone for capturing song ideas, rehearsal recordings, memos, and training material. The recorded audio can be looped on playback, and slowed down without changing the pitch.
