question

Do they come with DMX Cables in the box?
Asked by: Anonymous
Unfortunately, there are no DMX cables included. The Pig Hog 3-Pin XLR DMX Cable (10') B&H # PIPHDMX10 is one type of cable you can use.

question

approximately how much wall space does the light cover if placed on the ground facing up? I have a 12' long wall and would like to cover most of it with light, esp. nearer the top (8 ft ceilings)
Asked by: Anonymous
If you place the light right at the base of the wall facing directly upwards, it will spread to cover about 5 ft. at the top. However, it will be much brighter at the bottom than it will be at the top of the wall. If you place the light about 8-10 ft. away from the wall and aim it near the middle, it will spread to over 6 ft. and have a much more even cover. Two of these at that distance would nicely cover a 12 x 8 wall. You would need to move to about 15 away to get the spread to cover the whole wall with one light, and at that distance it begins to get a bit dim (but might be okay in a very dark room).

question

Has anyone used these for video? Is there any flicker?
Asked by: derek g.
We didn't use them specifically for video in a studio. But we did video the theatrical presentations (two musicals) that we used them for this summer and on the resulting footage, no flicker was noticeable.

question

How do i get it to do the automated programs, what number do i put in?
Asked by: Anonymous
There are several automated programs on the COLORstrip, but they are very basic varieties. If you want full control and let these babies pop, you will want to get into the DMX controllers. These are great lights!

question

How tall are the mounting brackets?
Asked by: Anonymous
It comes with a pair of short and a pair of longer metal mounting brackets. The short ones keep kind of flush against the COLORstrip body, which might not allow for full tilting. The longer pair allow room for tilting. There's nothing unusual about the mounting, so you could, if you wanted to, find many other mounting bracket (paint the nickel/stainless steel mounts black) options at your local hardware store. But I found the included brackets fully appropriate for the task. And if you're a MacGuyver, you have unlimited possibilities.
