Can the SFP Module do both SingleMode and MultiMode?
They are designed for Singlemode. Multimode will work for a much shorter distance. There are third party single to multi adapters that would help using multimode fiber.

Short answer is Yes it has worked with multi mode fiber on short runs but it’s unreliable over time so I would recommend getting a multi mode sfp module if that’s the fiber you have to work with

Is it neccessary to use an attenuator for very short runs (50m) or does anyone know the receiver overload power?
No you should not need to use anything like an attenuator when using the Blackmagic Design 3G SFP Optical Module.

Yes, the 3G SFP may be used in any of our products with optical interface. The signals will be limited to 3G, of course.
