MultiCart R12RT overview

  • 1Description

The MultiCart RocknRoller R12RT 8-in-1 All-Terrain Equipment Cart is adjustable from 34 to 52" in length in eight different configurations, and supports up to 500 lb loads. It's suitable for audio and film/video/photo gear, facility maintenance, trade shows, and any other use requiring a heavy payload and adjustability. The R12RT model has a black and yellow design with a bit of silver, in contrast to its sister cart, the R12STEALTH, sold separately, which is identical but comes in black and silver only.

The cart features a 13.5" wide frame bed and has foldable sides measuring 32". The sides can be raised on one or both ends to better secure your equipment. What makes this an all-terrain cart are the patented R-Trac wheels. There are rugged, foam-filled, no-flat 10" wheels in the rear and 8", no-flat swivel casters with a brake in front. These are made for just about any terrain, such as rough and tricky surfaces like gravel and grass. The R-Trac tires provide a smooth ride with superior traction. The cart frame is made of powder-coated, telescoping steel tubes. When it comes time for storage, the cart folds up compact and nearly flat to fit in closets and similar spaces.

There are also various optional accessories available for the cart from MultiCart, such as an extendable shelf, a solid deck, cargo extension rack, and laptop shelf.

    RocknRoller R12RT 8-in-1 All-Terrain Equipment Cart is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 108.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not happy! This cart came out of the box with dented metal, scratched powder coating and seemed like it had obviously been used multiple times before it was sent to me. But aside from that, the actual cart does not handle very well. It does have nice swiveling tires, and seems like it can really hold quite a bit of weight, but the real issue is that once the two handles that pop up on either end are in the upright position, they have a ton of give (they are NOT locked tight in place), so they wiggle and wobble back and forth as you try to pull or push the cart. This makes it feel very unstable. I load up very heavy and very fragile items, and I felt the entire time that I did not have full control of the cart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Hummer of gear carts WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG?!? I have been schlepping my gear since 1990. I have had various smaller carts, including the venerable TriKart. I now have a van for work, so I could easily fit this into the kit. wow. Our first use was a corporate shoot out on Nantucket, travelling only on the passenger ferry. We loaded this up, using the bag on the end to carry stands and various grip gear. We arrived in Nantucket to be met by the 200 year old cobblestone streets. This cart handled it like a Pro. Fully laden with a pro still photo kit,it was easily maneuvered around the rough terrain streets. Then, quickly unloaded and collapsed to fit into a taxi for travel to/from our location. Awesome.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You deserve a cart like this i am a mobile dj, this cart is sturdy and versatile. i should have gotten one a long time ago. it is totally worth the money, the performance is so much better than a regular $80 convertible hand truck. my only warning is that the large all-terrain front wheels dont turn as easily as regular small wheels so swiveling in a small space is tricky, sometimes you have to point the wheels in the right direction with your foot. it's a trade-off for having the larger wheels. if you really dont go over grass or bumpy terrain, you may want to stick to the smaller wheeled unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well-built and versatile I use this cart for transporting a large Pelican case and grip bag. The smallest position is perfect for c-stands and fits into elevators. It's well-built for the price and easy to maneuver. Collapsed, I can fit the cart in the front seat of my small sedan, but I normally leave it in the trunk. This was the best four-wheel cart I could find for the price that is small enough to fit in a car. If you drive a truck or van that has more space, a Magliner might be a more durable choice, but they are much longer and heavier. I'm not sure I'd trust the Multicart as a table, but it's fine for hauling gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid cart for a good price. There are better carets out there, but they cost a LOT more. 6-10X more, in fact. This cart does the job, is solid, can carry a lot of gear, gets reasonably small for packing into the car, and doesn't cost too much. It also has a good selection of accessories to kit it out. It requires a little fiddling with wing nuts, etc, to set it up at the start of the day, but that takes about 5 minutes and you're good to go for the day. Now, if you're in and out of the vehicle and have to set it up and break it down 4 or 5 times a day, this might not be right for you. The pricier carts have some ingenious latches that make setup quicker.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY I had 4 of these and none of them worked - The front wheels shimmied on all them, which were brand new right out of the box. Will not be purchasing again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cant beat it for the price Not the most compact cart which is a downside if you're traveling in a car or regular truck but its worth making room for. It opens up and collapses nicely, very easy to extend and is not overly heavy. I am a cinematographer and use this to carry around lighting gear when on location. I got the top shelf mount to add some space for extra gear and the extension rack. The extension rack allows me to add 4 c-stands and a tripod to the front of the cart for easy transport and I love it! Would be 5/5 if it was a little more compact. Overall great little cart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Cart for the Money I am a professional sound mixer who needed a cart to haul some cases around on and give me a area to work from. So I bought this cart and the Shelf and Decklid. The cart is well built and BH is the only place that gives you the run flat tires for same price as normal air filled tires. So that is why I bought the cart from BH. The only cons to the cart are the Shelf and Deck Lid which are extra and only needed if you plan on using the cart to work from. The bolts that hold the shelf to the frame aren't long enough so I had to buy some longer bolts for $5.00 at a hardware store which wasn't a big deal. The deck mounting blocks were to close to the edge of the cart making it hard to secure it so it was easy to fix just took a wood chisel and trimmed a inch off each of the wood mounting blocks. Overall I love the cart and still think the shelf and deck lid are a good buy you just need to work on them a little bit like most gear I own
