The Tiffen 55mm Digital Neutral Density Filter Kit is a complete set of filters to help you get better shots in bright light as well as assisting you with some special effect images.

Neutral Density filters have several uses and offer the possibility to achieve otherwise unachievable results. They enable the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance. ND filters appear gray and reduce the amount of light reaching the film.

Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation takes knowledge, experience and a collection of such filters. Speaking generally, the 2-stop value (ND 0.6) effectively compensates average situations.

Neutral Density Filters Have Four Main Uses

To enable slow shutter speeds to be used, especially with high speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
To decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
To decrease the effective ISO of high speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situation
To allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

Neutral Density Factors

ND.6 (exposure adjustment = 2 stops, reduces ISO by 1/4)
ND.9 (exposure adjustment = 3 stops, reduces ISO by 1/8)
ND1.2 (exposure adjustment = 4 stops, reduces ISO by 1/16

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indispensable for shallow depth focus For a few months now, I've been getting old Canon and Nikkor fixed focus lenses. With an adapter they fit perfectly on my Lumix GH2. They are manually controlled which works great with my camera. Shooting shallow depth frames in daylight requires neutral density filters in order to keep the aperture as wide open as possible. Tiffen filters are perfect for that task and they are reasonably priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Did just what it was supposed to do! It allowed to to take a gorgeous photo shoot of flowing waterfalls in blazing sunlight. I used the 1.2 one for most of the time, but I am glad I bought the kit because there were a few times under slight shade that a had to use the middle one. Either way, these filter made 100% the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NDF or No NDF I used my Neutral Density Filters to take photographs of my street at the beginning of winter. I used the filters to experiment, by looking directly into the sun at the end of the street using the various combinations of the filters. and a couple photographs without any filters. As an amateur I found this the easiest way to see what difference the filters made to the quality of detail in the photographs. The filters made a substantial difference. The difficult issue then became which one would I show. My only criticism is that the box indicated that along with the pouch and lenses there was a guide. I could not find the guide. I have enjoyed using the product and look forward now to taking many photos of the type I enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Intro to ND Filters These filters were my first ND filters and I love them. I have yet to find anything negative about them. They attach easily, stack great, and provide a nice crisp sharp image. My only regret is that I did not get them sooner.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Filter thread issues The optics are decent, no noticable image degradation or color casting, but the threads on two of them were defective. I had to have my stone carving buddy use his fine-work tools to grind down the outermost threads as they were too thick to fit in my lenses. If I were not in Canada (costs more than product price to return them) I would have sent them back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well at the right price being a newbie I was reading about ND filters and decided to purchase a set. Finding that colors are much more vibrant in harsh sunlight. Worth the price. Wish there was some information included with the filters to guide me through the process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ND filters! Great ND filters. I just need to use them a lot more to get a really good feel for them. Look like excellent quality construction and threading.
