Allen & Heath ZED-10 Overview

The multipurpose Allen & Heath ZED-10 mixer combines four mic/line inputs, two Hi-Z guitar inputs, two stereo inputs for effect returns and portable music players or keyboards, and a USB digital audio interface compatible with Mac and Windows computers—in a compact and portable package small enough for carrying to your gig, whether recording live or in the studio. Channels 1 through 4 feature XLR mic inputs and low-noise preamps with 60 dB of gain. Channels 1 & 2 also offer balanced/unbalanced line inputs while 3 & 4 feature Hi-Z inputs with Class-A FET circuits and 26 dB boost switches, designed to add tube-like warmth to your guitar and other instruments. All four mono channels are equipped with responsive, 3-band swept-mid EQs, which utilize MusiQ technology to optimize the Q factor according to the amount of boost or attenuation.

Allen & Heath ZED-10 Reviews

solid board for webcasting

I really like the separate phones/recording mute buttons. Really great for virtual podcasts/webcasts. Wish you could send independent channels through the USB interface instead of just left and right, but ultimately good enough for what I use it for.

question

Input to camra?
Asked by: Anonymous
The inputs are for a variety of devices. I've never plugged a camera into the mixer--I always plug the camera directly into my laptop--but you can take the output from the camera using an HDMI to RCA cable cord or other cord that will plug into the mixer. What I have done is use a crowd mic to capture surrounding video from whatever I'm filming rather than the camera audio. The crowd mic can be attached to a mic stand or set up in other ways to pick up the ambient sound.
