Will this work on a Manfrotto Befree GT XPRO which has a 496 Center Ball Head?
The Wimberley C-12 Quick Release Clamp is not compatible with the Manfrotto 494 head. However, you could remove the head from the Manfrotto Befree legs and replace it with an Arca Swiss compatible head such as this Oben: https://bit.ly/4b07knT.

I have only used level type Arca Swiss type releases. How do you prevent a twist type from coming loose?
The twist knob in the Wimberley C-12 Quick Release Clamp (2.5", 6.4 cm Long) does not get loose on its own. It takes many turns of the knob to open and close the clamp. You don't need to do anything special to keep it from unscrewing on its own.

Can this clamp be mounted directly to a Skimmer Pod?
Yes, this can mount directly to the Skimmer Pod. The 3/8-16" threads of the Wimberley C-12 QR clamp can screw completely onto the Skimmer Pod's 3/8"-16 stainless steel captive bolt. In fact, the C-12 is actually recommended by the Skimmer Pod's manufacturer, Naturescapes, as being perfectly matched for it.
