Pelican 1650 reviews

1650NF Case without Foam (Olive Drab Green) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! To begin with, the case was delivered FOR FREE by B&H! Which is great in itself. But to the quality of the actual case, I couldn't have been more satisfied. I have had smaller, much older pelican cases and this new case is still up to the same standard of quality, if not better. I am using this case basically as work luggage. With the way it's built I don't have to worry about loading my bag in the back of a truck or leaving in the elements and then having to re-wash all my clothes due to leakage. The case is strong and is by no means light, but it is light enough for me to haul around anywhere with total confidence!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't break 'em! I have four tied to ladders on a ladder rack on top of the van. For being a gypsy, you know? This morning, I tried to use tie-downs on a 1610, but it wouldn't work because the 1650NF has handles, and the 1610 does not. Well, I forgot that the 1610 was still on the roof when I went for a drive, and lo and behold, it stayed on top of the roof for 3 miles down the road, but when I hung a left turn at 35mph, the 1610 flew off the roof onto the pavement. Nobody hurt, and neither was the 1610! But get a 1650, and this will never happen to you. Can't beat 'em with a stick! (The 1610 was still empty as nothing was in it yet.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I wanted I lug a lot of camera around the world and Pelican cases have always held up to the beatings they take. I love the Pelican 1650 since I can load a good amount of gear inside and not worry at all. I originally bought the Pelican 1650 when the new model came out about 3 years ago and Pelican has really made some nice changes to the case, especially trimming some weight off of it. I currently own 3 Pelican cases and I love them all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good to the Point of Overkill This is the largest pelican case that a single person can reasonably handle, and then only because of the excellent wheel and handle system. It easily fits small to mid sized tripods, light stands, and 1'x1' LED panels with batteries and chargers with room left for many assorted odds and ends. The latches are many and strong, and I use cable ties to make a convenient seal/backuo closure. I usually put some spares in the case and a note asking TSA to replace the ties if they cut them for inspection. These cases are a bit heavy, but the protection is worth it. I routinely ship gear ahead to locations (this is NOT a carry-on) via UPS or Fedex and these cases are the best protection money can buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Investment for Traveling After seeing a friend's 1650NF case last year, I finally decided to purchase one myself. It has not let me down thus far for domestic and international travel. Although it is heavier than most other luggage pieces available on the market, the toughness and durability of it surpass all other luggage bags I have. I don't have to worry about anything within it getting crushed or destroyed. Out of all other vendors (online and local), B&H had the best price for which to purchase this case. I have yet to see any problems with this case. Pelican truly delivers with the quality of their items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very well built, as all Pelicans are. I bought this case to serve as my primary luggage for travel. My old soft luggage never fared well in Airports. For around the same price as other rolling luggage in the same size range, I figured, Why not just buy the indestructible one? The case is bigger and heavier than I expected, but that's entirely my fault. The weight and dimensions are clearly listed online and they are accurate. Most airlines won't consider it oversized, but it will be easy to go over the weight limit, as the case already weighs 24 pounds empty. As far as build quality, it's just what you would expect from Pelican. The wheels have endured impacts and very rough, pothole riddled New England sidewalks. The latches are very secure. The handles are very sturdy, and I like that there are three around the case.
