Canon EW-60C overview

  • 1Description

This EW-60C Lens Hood for select lenses from Canon is primarily designed to prevent unwanted stray light from entering the lens by extending and shading the end of the lens. In addition, since the end of the lens is extended, you also get the added benefit of some extra protection from accidental impact.

Dedicated lens hoods are designed to match the specific focal length of the lens it was designed for.

Canon EW-60C reviews

EW-60C Lens Hood is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 149.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Canon EW-60C & ET60 lens hoods I recently bought the T3 Rebel this Summer. I also picked up the recommended lens hoods from Canon purchased through B&H. I like them and they fit their respective lenses well. They are not quite as tough as a thread-on lens hood but function correctly with no blurring or shadowing around the corners. When ordering Canon lens hoods be sure you know if your lens is an STM or EF-S IS II. The lens hood mounting brackets on the lens are different. Thanks B&H for the fast, excellent service. Len G.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I should have bought the Generic one I spent extra to get the Canon branded lens hood however this lens hood is very difficult to fit onto my 18 - 55mm IS lens. I can't imagine the much cheaper generic brand lens hoods would be any worse. Save your money, Canon made no effort in making this lens hood fit the lenses propertly. Previously had Nikon products, their lens hoods fit their lenses like a glove.. I regret switching to Canon. If you have 15 minutes to fumble around with this the lens hood everytime you need to put it on your lens or take it off, then go ahead and buy this.. however the generic cheaper brands will work just as well if not better!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it should!! Works great! Hooks to the lens VERY securely, and I've already noticed the difference when I take pictures. It's not as long as I was expecting (like my macro lens hood) but that's to be expected from a hood for a wider angle lens. Also it's small enough that I can leave it on when I put my camera in my bag. I will always buy Canon brand acessories. After checking out a couple generic brands, there's NO comparison. Buy CANON!!... THANK YOU!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It don't get in the way On a Cannon 18-55 zoom: What do you want from a Hood? Stop pesky lens flair! EW-60C Does this What don't you want from a hood? Show up on your image!! EW-60C is perfect for this lens. Posted are three pictures set at 18mm zoom: 1. Generic 58 mm screw mount at max wide-angle setting showing interference. 2. Same scene with Polarizing filter and EW-60C attached The feature I like the most is the bayonet stile attachment to the 18-55 Zoom. Like all precision devices precise alignment is required by the user to do the attachment successfully. Practice and patients are required. I think it is easier that a screw mount which are prone to cross threading. I keep the hood on my lens in the reverse mode. It protects the lens threads. It is not a tulip hood but I have not found one that works as well as this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Save your Money I originally thought of buying a hood after having some light problems while at Yosemite. While this item is very easy to put on, and does its job very well, it does interfere with my ability to manipulate my polarizer - there is not enough space between the hood and the rim of the polarizer for my not-very-fat fingers. If I had the choice between using the hood to control unwanted light entry and using the polarizer easily, I would leave the hood off. Next time, I'll use my money more wisely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Lens Hood Nice lens hood. Fits my Canon 18-55mm lens perfectly! Quality plastic, and the inside of the hood is a nice flat black. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it's not very deep. It helps, but I think it could provide more protection if it was a tad deeper. It's only about an inch deep. Good product tho. I would recommend this hood for that lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality! Amazing fit! Amazing lens hood. It even comes with a piece of metal that screws into the lens and from there you can mount your lens hood. Amazing build quality! I highly recommend to purchase this lens hood instead of the cheap imitations found on @ or @. Canon lens hoods cost a little bit more, but they are worth every penny.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The perfect companion! The EW-60C is the perfect companion for the Canon 18-55mm lens. It is sturdy and practical: the cap of the lens can be put on or taken out easily when the hood is on the lens and the hood can be inverted for travelling, if needed. Canon does not include a hood with its mainstream lenses... In my opinion, it is worth it to pay some extra money to buy a hood as it helps to protect the lens. It's much cheaper to replace a hood than a lens if the camera is dropped or knocked! And of course, the hood does a good job blocking the glare from the sun. I would defininetely recommand this product.
