The EeeKeyboard PC EK1542 Desktop Computer from ASUS is an innovative, compact desktop computer system. Harking back to the design of the classic Apple II, the EeeKeyboard houses a fully-functional computer system within a keyboard. It features a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of SSD storage. A 60-day trial subscription to the ASUS WebStorage service is included, allowing you to store as many files online as you'd like.
The keyboard itself features a chiclet design for enhanced comfort when typing. It eschews a numeric keypad -- instead, it features a 5" color multi-touch panel. You can use the panel to launch commonly used websites and applications, to control media playback, or to quickly adjust system settings. The panel also displays wireless signal strength and battery life.
The computer can connect wirelessly to an external display thanks to ASUS's Wireless Display Technology. Line of sight is required for optimal operation. This can lead to a cable-free desktop when you combine this with the system's ability to run for up to four hours on battery power and its ability to work with wireless Bluetooth peripherals, including desktop mice.
Graphics are provided by the integrated Broadcom 70010 + 70012 GPU, which is more than capable of handling HD video. Traditional wired HDMI and VGA ports are available if you opt not to use the wireless display system. It features integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi, making it easy to get online. The system also features wired Gigabit Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, and standard audio output jacks. Windows XP Home (32-bit) is the installed operating system.
