The Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500 (120V) from APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an electrical outage. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery which continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut from them. An LCD status display provides information including remaining battery life, load capacity, and event notices. The battery is hot-swappable and easy to replace. An audible alarm alerts you of events like power outage and low battery.

    Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500 (120V) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 269.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Severe problems with this product line I've owned several of these and have had to contact APC on almost a yearly basis because of them reporting failure despite the battery still holding a charge and the units will pass a manual self test even right after supposedly failing. The product reviews on their website say the same thing and other than continuing to replace the item within the original 3 year purchase period, all the overseas support can suggest is upgrading to the SMC series and offering a trade-in at a price that is higher than the B&H retail. Avoid the BR series products at any cost, switch to the BE series or find another brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from faulty on/off switch...twice! This is my third APC back-up and it is a very solid product like the others. However the on/off switch on this model does not work properly. I called APC and they very quickly sent out a new replacement. The replacement also had a bad power switch. So they are sending me a third unit...we'll see. APC support is top notch and shipping is fast. I don't have much hope that the third unit uses a different switch. Based upon my experience with two faulty units I have to give a Do Not Recommend until they fix the switch issue. Other than that it is top quality as I have come to expect from APC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Convenient Form-Factor This is the second of these units I have purchased. The first is still going strong on its original battery despite being run on many occasions until it shut itself down: we used to live in an area with notoriously flaky electricity, and even after the computing equipment was powered off, I continued to use it to charge cellphones and other mobile devices when the house power failed. But what I like about this UPS unit even more than the robustness of its battery is its form-factor. I find the tall, thin shape very convenient for fitting into tight spaces and I actually find it a bit easier to manage the powercord clutter with an UPS whose outlets are arrayed vertically.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid product I had the older version of this product (BR1500) which finally gave out on me after about 4-5 years of use. I was still able to use the external extended battery pack from the old unit with this one, which was a definite plus. The addition of the LCD to this model is another great feature. I can see in real time how many Watts my battery backed-up devices are consuming. Note: The fan in this unit runs during trickle charging of the battery. This occurs any time the unit switches to battery, even through a self-test. The fan will kick on and run for about 3 hours. It is fairly noisy, but it will shut off and remain off until the next power interruption.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rely on APC for Backup Power This is my third APC Power Backup purchase, having previously bought the SX1000, SX1300 and the latest Pro 1500. All have operated flawlessly providing uninterrupted power during power outages and surges. It is comforting to know that during a surge or drop-out your devices will continue to operate during loss of power. You can monitor the LCD readout to determine how much battery power (time) you have so that you can plan shutting down equipment safely and at your convenience. I would highly recommend any of the APC products I have owned.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have used the APC products for yerrs and never had problems untill this one. Out of the box it has never worked right. Tells you often the batts are low when the system check shows there fully charged and shows no operational problems. The auto timed shut down does not work as programed and instantly shuts down at the first lighting strike. I'm getting the runaround from Staples trying to get it swapped out even through I did buy there "replacement plan" So untill things are hopefully resolved I'm not a happy camper. Would I buy again yes, as they have preformed for me well with all the others I've used. We all get a lemon at some point in time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Quality UPS, great price Unlike earlier APC PS units -- battery activation is easy, just flip it over. Be aware that all UPS units offer EXTREMELY OPTIMISTIC estimates of runtime in case of an outage. This model is no exception. Good rule of thumb is that under minimal load your UPS will allow about 30-50% of the stated value. Once you are aware of that, the unit offers decent backup coverage, a quality build, with full LCD display of ket metrics (load, runtime, in/out voltage etc), at a very affordable price. It is adequate of most purposes and a required component for any serious computer user.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from faulty on/off switch...twice! The first unit I received had a faulty on/off switch. Turned on but was very difficult to turn off, had to wiggle it with a pencil. APC quickly replaced it with a new unit. Thumbs up for the quick turnaround. However the second unit just arrived and has the same switch problem so I'm going to have to find a different brand. Too bad as APC has been good and the support is very good. I recommend that you avoid until they fix this switch issue. Otherwise it is a good product.
