504PLONG Long Quick Release Mounting Plate is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Way too expensive The 504PLONG fits both the 504HD 75mm ball head and the 502 flat based head, and little else. Thank you Manfrotto for selling heads and mounts that have ALMOST the same plate but are not compatible. The 357 plate on their quick-disconnect mount is almost identical but the two are totally different widths. And Manfrotto doesn't make a quick-disconnect mount that takes the 504PLONG plate. Apparently the plate alone accounts for 1/5 the cost of a 504HD fluid head. But price aside, Manfrotto should never have released a head that uses this plate, which should not exist. The 357 plate is so close and fits previously released products. It should have been the plate on the 504HD. Please, Manfrotto: standardize your silly plates.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No Brass Plug This is a great solid metal plate but be aware the this does not include the brass plug at the end. Instead it comes with plastic pieces that can snap in and out. The small brass plug that usually has give when putting a camera on had to be drilled out of our broken plate and welded onto the new one since the plastic pieces just wont work for the amount of filming we do.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Warning: QR Plate for Video Pros! This plate mates ONLY with the 504HD Fluid Video Head (about $370) and not with other Manfroto long-lens-capable heads. I misunderstood the description of it as a standard QR plate for use with various video-capable Manfroto heads. What does standard mean if this thing is only used with a single video head? My mistake; but the description was misleading. Apparently, it is a wonderful performer for video professionals who invest $450 in their quick release systems and figure it a bargain.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the plate I had hoped for. I bought this long plate to have a second one for my Manfrotto tripod. I was hoping to have something identical to the existing plate. But this one seems cheaper. One point of a longer plate is to have 2 screws to secure it. Both my Sony FS5 and Canon C100mk2 have a 1/4' and 3/8' threads. It makes sense to have 2 screws, in each size, for most secure mount. This came with only one screw, with a conversion screw. And with it's inferior design, it is far more difficult to get the screws into the plate. A mediocre product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No 3/8 Screw Option Manfrotto has changed these plates slightly from the originals found on my 502/504 tripod heads. The product photo is also a little deceiving, because with the new design, the hole in the plate for the screw to fit through WILL NOT fit a 3/8 screw, even if purchased separately. The little 1/4 to 3/8 adapter they include is a bit of a joke compared to the older, more robust design. While these work well enough, I'll be looking for another brand that supports the larger diameter screws found on professional cameras.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Double Check this is what you want Plate is fine. What is included is not what is pictured. You get two smaller easy screws with one adapter to make it a 3/8. Not ideal. Not sure why Manfrotto did this and made the plate only allow for the 1/4-20 screws and not the larger 3/8. Highly confused and disappointed in why Manfrotto did this. Thought I was buying another plate the same as the one my tripod head came with but this one that was recommended for my tripod head and is not the same.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Also works well with 701 head Though the 504 plate is about twice as long of the 701 head, it is compatible with it and is what I desire to balance my camera rig the way I want it. I also find the rubber grips come loose easily when two items are attached to the plate at once.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it Works pretty well. Range is good for balance. The only issue is that the rubber pads that grip to my camera have started to peel up from the plate after only week of shooting.
