The Impact 7-in-1 Collapsible Reflector Disc - 42 x 72" offers versatile light control with a variety of reflective colors. It's a 42 x 72" (1.06 x 1.82 m) spring steel frame covered with a heavy-duty pliable nylon blend translucent fabric, with additional fabric covers that slip over the reflector and provide white, gold, silver, and silver-gold reflectors, plus chroma green and chroma blue covers to provide chroma backgrounds.

The translucent material is used to diffuse light, producing a broad light source and a soft, wraparound effect that's perfect for outdoor portraits or whenever a softer light is needed. White produces an even, neutral-colored bounce light that works beautifully as a fill light source for both product shots and indoor/outdoor portraits. Gold produces a natural, golden fill that is great for jewelry and indoor portraits. Silver increases the specular highlights and yields a high-contrast image. Silver-gold gives you more contrast than gold, and warmer color than the silver.

The blue and the green chroma-key fabrics turn the reflector into a chroma-key background. The frame folds down to approximately 1/3 of its full size, for convenient storage and transport.

question

How do you refold the R71-4272 to put back into its case?
Asked by: Anonymous
It comes with instructions on how to fold it back into it's case. Basically you twist the reflector into a figure-eight shape and continue twisting as you bring the two ends together. It will end up in a circle shape.

question

Impact is marketing this as a reflector as compared to a background . Are the chroma green and chroma blue fabrics held taught enough to actually prevent wrinkles and folds and thus to serve as an effective, primary use chromakey background?
Asked by: Kevin J.
Yes. I've used it many times for green and blue screens. It is held tight, but it does also wrinkle. With good lighting and key light, the wrinkles are easily keyed out.

question

When the white side is in use, what is the color showing on the back side? To me, the most useful pairing would be white/silver, meaning one would just turn the reflector around to choose either white or silver as desired, and not need to remove a cover, turn it inside out, and then reattach it just to work with the two most common surfaces.
Asked by: Kevin J.
Kevin, The white is actually the inner sturdy section. The colors of green, blue, silver and gold are held up by white the sturdy inner section. I think it is made like that in order for the white to double as scrim. KennyG
