Rated 5 out of 5 by from SkySync GPS Accessory I recently purchased a Celestron C6 on an Advanced VX mount. Every time I started the alignment process I had to adjust the time and date, which seemed to be initializing incorrectly. I read the User's Manual and noticed that there was no GPS receiver on this new, advanced mount! I paid an extra sum for this unit and set the mount to recognize it as a time and location source, and the problem was solved. I am giving 5 stars to this GPS unit because it works perfectly and it was easy to integrate into my mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Work exactly like it says! Hi, I bought this SkySync Gps for my Celestron CG5-GT, first of all when I plugged it was not working, I check all my setup and read on the Net, the problem was the firmware, so I updated both of them (motors and NexStar remote) it worked fine thereafter. The GPS get fix in less minute and another good thing, you can plug it under the remote the remote cable don't go around your mount, so for me it is a good buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works As It Should The SkySync GPS Accessory from Celestron is a nice accessory in that it provides accurate Longitude and Latitude coordinates and precise time. Yes, you can enter this info manually (as I did for the 5 years I've had my NextStar 8SE), however, this accessory does save you a little time and seems to be more accurate than when done manually. I've entered the same coordinates and time manually and have had the NextStar 8SE fail to align, yet doing same with this accessory it successfully aligns every time. Don't know why, but it does. Again, I've been using the 8SE for 5 years and know it well. My only negative about the NextStar 8SESkySync GPS Accessory from Celestron is that I think it is over-priced and should be about 30-40 perecent less cost for what it is. Other than thinking is is over-priced, it is a good and welcome addition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from SkySync GPS Accessory saves time. It's nice to hook it up to the aux port and not worry about setting time and location. Takes about a min to contact the satellites but once acquired it is a god send. I don't care for the strap supplied with the unit to attach it to a tripod leg, but easy enough to figure out a work around. Also it is a little pricey. It would have been nice if the this hardware worked with Nexgps software. But it doesn't. According to Celestron the software was not designed to work with Celestron gps units, just third party GPS. What a shame!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SkySync Gps bring Australian Stars closer! I am in Tropical Queensland - Australia, and the SkySync camera in conjunction with the Gps makes setup and accuracy very simple and pain free. It is surely a fantastic, clever and must have product for the backyard Stargazer!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work with Advanced VX I didn't believe the one negative review here, and the good number of negative reviews around the web. Now I know. I've tried everything humanely possible to get this to sync with the handset and nothing works, and given that most people say it is plug and play, I shouldn't be having issues. Sadly I waited until after my 30 days were up to test this unit (life was busy) so I'm going to talk to customer service to see if they'll be lenient. I've emailed Celestron, so we'll see what they say. For the price I would have never bought this if I had known how poorly it was going to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SkySync GPS Accessory The SkySync GPS is very easy to install into the telescope system. Just plug it in and enter Long./ Lat., Time,Date and off you go. You still have to align your scope before use, but no more with the Long/Lat, Time and Date. Travel to another destination near or far, Your GPS remembers. It saves hassel, time,it's more accurate (everytime). Why guess at it?
