ASUS N82JQ-B2 Overview

The N82Jq-B2 14" Notebook Computer from ASUS is a 14" notebook, perfect for day-to-day use. It is loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) operating system, and features a 16:9 aspect ratio display. Graphics are provided by the nVIDIA GeForce GT 335M GPU, which features 1GB of DDR3 VRAM for gaming and multimedia. The computer's Blu-ray drive can play high-def movies on the computer's display or on an HDTV thanks to the system's HDMI output port. Of course, it can also read and burn DVDs and CDs.

The computer is housed in a durable chassis with a dark brown color scheme. It features recessed hinges, rubberized materials, and a diamond-cut speaker mesh. Audio is provided by Altec Lansing speakers with SRS Premium Sound. The system also features a 2MP webcam and built-in microphone for online video chat.

The system is powered by a quad-core 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-740QM CPU, which can be overclocked to 2.93GHz thanks to the Intel Turbo Boost system. It is loaded with 4GB of RAM, a 500GB 7200rpm hard drive, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Numerous peripheral ports are available, including USB 3.0, USB 2.0, and eSATA.

ASUS is the first to introduce the USB 3.0, capable of providing a bandwidth of about 5Gbps -- around 10 times the bandwidth of USB 2.0. USB 3.0 is capable of transferring 4.5GB file from the computer to an external hard drive in less than 2 minutes -- compared to close to 4 minutes for USB 2.0. This allows for faster transfers of high definition data, such as movies and videos, as well as various other large capacity file formats. It also provides 900mA of power to USB devices, compared to the 500mA that USB 2.0 provides. This allows you to charge more devices more quickly, and to provide more power to external bus-powered devices. USB 3.0 also helps to extend battery life, suspending operations when it is in idle mode
