Standard lenses as well as wide angle lenses can be accommodated using the wide rayshade.

You are provided with two lockable 4 x 4" filter holders; one fixed and the other 360° rotatable for graduated filters. In conjunction with screw-in adaptor rings, the matte box can be used with 58-86 mm lenses.

Weighing 0.7 lb (0.34 kg), the Wide Angle Matte Box provides an ideal solution for location-based shoots. You can use the matte box with video cameras and DSLRs such as the Canon 5D or 7D.

The Genus GWMC Wide-Angle Matte Box for 4 x 4" Filters includes a wide-angle matte box with a 105mm attachment, a 4 x 4" rotating filter tray, a 4 x 4" fixed filter tray, and a wide-angle rayshade. Standard lenses as well as wide-angle lenses can be accommodated using the wide rayshade.

Two lockable 4 x 4" filter holders are provided; one fixed and the other 360°-rotatable for graduating filters. Also included is an 82mm adapter ring, as well as a clamp ring that supports lenses and wide-angle adapters with diameters up to 105mm. A GARD donut adapter ring allows you to achieve a secure fit between the lens adapter ring and clamp ring of the matte box. You can use the matte box with 58 to 86mm lenses via screw-in adapter rings.

You can use the matte box with 12 or 15mm rods via an optional adapter unit. Weighing just 11.9 ounces, the Wide-Angle Matte Box is portable and provides an ideal solution for location-based shoots. You can use the matte box with camcorders and DSLRs such as the Canon 5D or 7D.

Genustech Adapter Ring for Select Clip-On Matte Boxes (37mm)

This Genus Adapter Ring for Select Clip-On Matte Boxes threads into lenses with 37mm threaded front, providing a 93mm diameter clamping surface for your Genus Matte Box Lite or Genus Wide Matte Box. Please note that this is not a filter-retaining ring. It is designed to mate your lens with a Genus Matte Box Lite or Genus Wide Clip-On Matte Box. It is made from anodized aluminum for strength and durability, and recommended for use with a lens that does not have a rotating front.

37mm threaded adapter ring features a 93mm outside diameter.
For use with either Matte Box Lite or Genus Wide matte boxes.
Use with lenses that have non-rotating fronts, otherwise your clip-on matte box will rotate as you change focus.

Nice design, good quality. Does everything I need and is the right size for a DSLR movie cam rig. Light as a feather but solid build.

I have seen several questions on this product. So, hopefully my review will help out. I use this with the 77mm ring into a 72mm adapter. It's super light, so most of the time I just screw it on, and leave it all day. I use 4x4 glass filters, and just take out the polarizer when I move inside. You can use flags on it as well, and stay pretty light if need be. All in all for my needs of wanting to simply shoot outside with a couple of nice glass filters, this works perfectly, is light, and really sturdy. I've used really expensive boxes, so I can tell when one is cheap. This hits the perfect niche for run and gun cinema/corporate.

I know GenusTech offers adapters for wide angle lenses that don't have filter threads. Can you please tell me, is it possible to use this with a 10mm Rokinon Cine DS lens and not have vignetting?

I am planning to get a few Sigma Lenses most are 82mm, But the Sigma 105mm 1.4 ART for my Sony has 105mm front threads, This says 105mm and an 82mm adaptor in box... Can it work on Sigma's 105mm Lens?

It says in the description that this mattebox works with a rod system or with the adapter rings. The pictures do not show any connectivity to rods- is that an extra accessory? Is the description wrong? Can it connect to 15mm rods?

Maybe 12mm could fit in the holes at the bottom; but I'm not sure if that's what they are for. Honestly it's super light, so even with two filters on a short lens it's fine. When I use long cinema lenses, I have 15mm or 17mm rods with a brace for the lens. So there again would be no need to run rods into the box.I really only use this for outside shooting, and like being able to throw it on real quick. Obviously a really wide angle will catch the box a tad.If you only need like a polarizer and use on size of lens, just get a screw on. However, if you use multiple lens millimeters, or want to use nice 4x4's this thing is great for the money. I never shoot outside without it. So, I can say I see no place for normal size rods.

Yes, this Mattebox comes with a 82mm clip on adapter for 82mm threaded lenses. Other sizes are available seperately.

We can say you will be good on full frame camera down to 24mm. Depending on the lens, you may be able to go wider.
