Vello CB-100 overview

  • 1Description

The QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket from Vello positions your flash unit well above the camera body and can quickly and smoothly rotate the flash 90º as you switch from horizontal to vertical shooting. With the flash detached from the body you are less likely to get red-eye effect, and with the rotating mechanism the flash is always above the lens, eliminating side shadows and providing a balanced and effective illumination.

Five mounting holes on the camera platform allow for almost any camera to utilize the bracket. Choose the hole that best balances your camera and tighten it in place with the mounting knob. Attach the flash unit to the bracket's accessory shoe by loosening the red knob, inserting the flash into the accessory shoe and tightening. Connect your flash cable to the flash unit and wrap it around or secure it to the bracket arm and you are ready to shoot.

The flash arm rotates 180º with a smooth and easy flip for when you need to shoot vertical. The padded grip is a comfortable way to stabilize your camera when shooting and is strong enough to be used as a handle for the entire system when not shooting.

The accessory shoe can be positioned in one of two locations or unscrewed and removed to accommodate the Nikon SC-28 and SC-29 or other off-camera shoe cords.

Adjustable cold shoe accepts almost any shoe-mount flash or accessory
Comfortable, soft hand grip can be used as a carrying handle.
Can be used with or without battery grip
Sturdy, lightweight aluminum construction
Locking mount for use with a tripod

    Vello CB-100 reviews

QuickDraw Rotating Flash Bracket is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 92.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality for the price When I was looking for a bracket, I was looking for something that would accomodate my Nikon D90, 7000 with battery drive} and D3000. I was not disappointed. This product fits me perfectly. Great quality for the price. I don't think this product could handle a very heavy camera with drive with flash. However,if you own the above with a SB 400, SB 300 SB 600 SB 700 or SB 800, or similar, this unit will do the trick. I should also say something about customer service at B+H. Excellent. They really have your best interests at heart and they REALLY know their product{s). Canadians out there. This bracket is as good if not better than what we can find in our local stores;especially on price point. I purchased this product by the way. Canadians

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works for me This bracket has adjustments to fine tune the flash to be over the lens with the camera if you are using a verticle grip or without. Light and easy to move from horizontal to vertical, has good ballance. The only Not great thing is the foam grip puts off a stink smell that's taking it's sweet time gassing out. (when new I could smell it from 8 feet away, now after a couple weeks I can detect it while holding it, this may be outlawed in California :=) ) For the $ it's a pretty good bracket... Excuse me I have to go wash my hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for the price A few folks have complained about build quality. I always look at something like this and think 'if I was to try and make it, how much would it cost me and how perfect would it be?' then I look at what you get for < $20 and think Bargain it's not perfect, the camera (D7100) is loose on the base, Ill need to improvise something to add more security, but most photographers are relatively handy and have some mechanical aptitude, so if you have a little creativity, for the price you have a great foundation from where you can start.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ok for occasional use For the price, this will do what you expect and get the flash off the camera. Downside for me was the cold shoe which I have to remove to attach my nikon sb800. I can remove the cold shoe and attach it with the screw through the bottom but it doesn't tighten down too well and feels wobbly. Maybe a washer between will help this but I'm returning it and buying one that cause more. So I would conclude that it will do the job at low cost. I'll second what others have said about the smell of the foam grip. Who knows what it's made from. 5 stars as always for great BH service over the years.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from RJ's advice was great... ...especially about replacing the little strip of foam with a rubber washer if you are mounting your flash to a sync cord before attaching to the bracket. The flash was flopping all over the first day I bought it, and the rubber washer now makes it very easy to lock it down securely. I might just glue the washer into place. I also tightened the hinge on the bracket, which was super loose upon arrival. I cranked it down with a screwdriver until it took a bit of effort to adjust it. The whole rig feels so much more stable now. People should be careful when wrapping a sync cord around the handle, though, as the cable can get pinched in the hinge when adjusting the rig to portrait mode from landscape mode. You can also pinch your skin in that hinge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality bracket for the Money Excellent quality for the price. Gets flash above camera for less harsh shadows visible in pics also folds over for keeping flash oriented correctly in Vertical shots. This bracket is built better than I was expecting for the price and has many tripod screw holes placed across the base plate so it should fir any DSLR or Mirrorless camera. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EXCELENT I have the bracket attached to a Canon T5i with a battery grip. Functions well both horizontally and vertically. Comfortable and secure to hold. The cold shoe with the flash attached, quickly releases from the bracket and can be mounted on a stand for remote wireless flash. The bracket is somewhat bulky to store but I did find that I can strap it on the outside of my equipment bag. I believe the Vello Quickdraw is a good product and performs as advertised.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Buy For the money the unit is very workable, my only complaint is the nut on the top that hold the cold shoe did not stay. I changed it out with a small quarter inch bolt and a lock nut. Problem solved
