Whether capturing images in the studio or on location, the Vello FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release adds flexibility and versatility to your shooting style. Photography unplugged - shooters can interact with a model, view the scene or set from alternate angles, or set a camera by a stream to capture an image of a bear hunting while you remain at a safe distance away - all this and more without missing a beat, a shot, or a moment. This particular FreeWave unit is compatible with cameras with the Nikon DC-2 connection, i.e. Nikon D610, D750, D3200, D5300 and D7100 DSLRs.

This versatile shutter release features Smart Code technology which allows it to be configured to operate on up to 16 million possible radio channels. You can easily switch channels to "zero in" on a frequency that provides optimal range and functionality.

The FreeWave operates with radio frequency (RF) technology, therefore a direct line of sight is not necessary; radio waves pass through objects such as windows and walls. It is unlike other wireless remotes on the market that operate on an Infrared (IR) system and require a direct line of sight between transmitter and receiver to make things work.

Since touching the camera even lightly while capturing an image can create a blurred image, the FreeWave eliminates this by tripping the shutter without any disturbances. This is critical when photographing subjects close up, and for long-exposures and macros. It is also extremely valuable when photographing nature, wildlife and other subjects that are difficult for you to get close to.

Compatibility
Nikon: Df, D90, D600, D610, D750, D3100, D3200, D3300, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D7000 and D7100; CoolPix P7800
Smart Code
The FreeWave's Smart Code feature allows you to operate on 16,000,000 possible radio channels. No DIP switches need to be set, and one transmitter can trigger multiple receivers. The units have been synchronized at the factory, so your system can work right out of the box. However, to maximize signal quality and range, it is best to use the Smart Code technology to sense the "quiet" frequencies in your environment and re-synchronize on that channel.
Extended Range
The FreeWave can fire the camera's shutter from distances up to 320 feet (100 meters).
Multi-function
Trigger your camera wirelessly or wired. Wired triggering even works if the receiver battery is dead or missing.
Dual-Function Release
Press the transmitter's button half way to focus; press it fully to trigger the shutter.
Delayed Release
The two-second delay function gives you extra time to get into position.
Multi-exposure
You can take multiple shots with one press of the trigger.
Long Exposures
With the FreeWave you can control the length of the exposure remotely.
LED Indicators
Two LED indicators confirm pre-focus and exposure when in the wireless mode.
Versatile
The FreeWave includes a camera release cable that works with your particular camera model. By simply changing to another cable (additional purchase required) a single receiver can work with many other cameras as well.

FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Nikon DC-2 Connection is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 254.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works quite well... I have relied on a corded shutter release for commercial photography with my D-200's. On a tripod a remote shutter release beats using the self timer for steady shots. When I upgraded to the D-600 I opted for this FreeWave device to serve this purpose. Setup was easy, albeit the battery that B&H said was required and sold me isn't compatible (the FreeWave came with the proper one fortunately). my average distance from the camera is around 6 feet and the shutter predicts and activation are smooth and reliable. I am still trying to determine how to use this release with the D-600 in live view/video mode. And the retractable antenna is a little flimsy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FreeWave Wireless Remote Shutter Release Overall, this is a great product and works very well. The one thing that I wish was different is the remote part that is connected to the cord. It just dangles down when plugged into the camera, and when you are using a tri-pod, it pulls down on the cord. It can attach up top where the flash pops up, but if you use flash, the flash will not come up all the way as it is blocked by the remote. I love the product though and don't let little issues like this keep me from buying it. You can always figure out a way to get around this problem. I use it to take pictures of my new son and family pictures. It works perfect for what I wanted it for!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small items, huge photographic aids I bought the Vello remote shutter release w/connector for Olympus E-5. It's nice to be able to photograph your family while you are in its midst. As yet, I haven't been able to use it much but I'm confident that, with it's capability of taking as many successive shots as you wish, I'll be able to have plenty of choices for printing. I've been buying from B & H Photo since the 1980's and can honestly say that I've never been disappointed. I'm still using the things that I've purchased from them many years ago. My five-star rating is for B&H as well as for the Vello remote release.. Larry West Virginia

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Addition to Camera Bag Afer purchasing a Nikon D7100 and finding that the ML-L3 remote doesn't have the functionality that previous Nikon cameras have I searched for a remote trigger. Nikon offers one that is very expensive but Vello, thankfully, offers a better solution at an affordable price. I like the range this remote has and love that the connection is RF instead of direct line-of-sight beam, meaning and I can trigger it in out-of-sight situations. This triggers works great and is everything I expected and everything the ad tells and shows you. The unit is smaller than I expected but no complaints from me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Little Gadget I just received it, so the only use so far has been testing it. I'm quite happy with it -- works well with no problems. I'll use it mainly to allow me to get into the photo -- as an alternatitve to the timer. It was difficult to plug in the first time, and remains tighter that was really necessary -- a little inconvenient but not a show stopper. I had to let it hang by the cable -- it is designed to attach to the flash shoe but it blocks the pop up flash when you do that. I use a speedlight anyway so I knew it would have to hang. If I were the designer, I'd create a way to velcro to the tripod -- I'll have to improvise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Solution for Various Photos This remote is the answer to three challenges I have in taking photos, namely, (1) not scaring away the birds or other creatures by getting close, (2) not moving the camera when plunging the shutter, especially for long distance and macro photos, or long bulb shots, and (3)setting up a good photo that would include me. Works like a charm. I can even be in another room of my home, with the camera focused on the feeder. This will focus the camera first and shoot second. So far, the only thing I do not like is that the piece that inserts into my camera is a very tight fit. This can be good, but it can also make it rather difficult to install and, worse, to remove. In any event, I liked the product so much, and it was such a good value, I have already gifted one to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect companion for Nikon DSLR Bought this remote to replace a wired Vello release and 'escape the cord.' The cost on this item is deceptive, as one might not expect too much at this price point. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The build quality is solid and smooth. No more action was required than to place the battery in the receiver and mount it to the camera. I am using mine with the D7100. I have triggered it at 100' with no issue. What is really nice is that additional coiled camera interface cables can be purchased--allowing this unit to work with a variety of cameras!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great but poorly made Used for my Canon 1dSMarkII. Very easy to set up and works very well. The transmitter did not function after my third photo session.. I removed the plate that holds the battery in the transmitter and found the miniature spring had dislodged and the battery was no longer making contact. I attempted to fix the spring and it broke off. With miniature tools I was able to get the battery seated again and the transmitter starting working once I bent a pressure plate. I mention this because it is bound to happen to someone else and you should know what to do. I will attempt to reach the manufacturer for warranty replacement and will report back to see how cooperative they are.
