The B+W 77mm MRC 103M Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. This Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) also offers greater protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. B+W filters are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity. This filter features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

77mm MRC 103M Solid Neutral Density 0.9 Filter (3 Stop) is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent ND filter for the outdoor/landscape photographer Does the job, and is easy to clean (the biggest reason I like B+W filters). Hoya, Tiffen and cheap filters are harder to clean. Cheap filters also create odd flares, etc. I've never had a problem with B+W filters (have a CPL as well that I'm happy with from B+W). Would strongly recommend this filter for any landscape/outdoor photographer if you want to give your photos some drama (particularly with clouds, water/waterfalls, or anything you want to have the silky look). They are bit more expensive, but worth every penny, because they use brass rings, and high-quality materials in their construction. You get what you pay for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great High Quality Filter from B+W!! Definitely pay the extra $$$ for MRC filters. Threads easily on and off of my 77mm threaded Canon L lenses. I use it to slow down shutter speeds to photograph waterfalls in NC. I see no sign of a color shift or significant flare. I often combine with a B+W 1.8 ND (6-stop) to get a total 9-stop ND. I have no problems combining them with the exception of some minor vignetting at 24-25mm on a full frame Canon 6D. Combining eliminates the need for a 9-stop ND filterthan getting a separate 9-stop NnnND filter.Definitely pay the extra $$$ to get the MRC versions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality ND filter This is a very sturdy, well built, high quality 3 f-stop ND filter. The filter mount is made out of brass and never sticks to filter mounts. The glass is multicoated, and while it is a bit more tricky to clean it affords excellent clarity and flare resistance. The filter is well calibrated, meaning that you can predictably get correct exposures by metering without the filter, adding 3 EV of exposure and screw the filter in place. The filter gives a very slight yellow cast that can be either pleasing or removed in post.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every camera kit needs one You don't need a new camera to take your photography to the next level. All you need are ND filters from B+W. I've been using my 77mm #103 Solid Neutral Density (ND) 0.9 MRC (Multi-Resistant Coating) Filter by B+W combined with my ND 3.0 MRC filter for a total 13 f stops. The results are a totally surreal look to my photos that would not ever be possible. The performance is above and beyond anything else I've ever tried. Other filters tend to lose their clarity when stacking, but not these ones. All my photos are super crisp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid Performer I do alot of outdoor weddings, as we know the light is often bright. This product allows me to shoot more wide open while still maintaining proper shutter speeds. The consistancy of this product makes it a solid performer in all situations when the ambient light is strong. I would love if this product had a bit of a deeper thread to allow for filter stacking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for high-speed lenses on sunny days. If you own high-speed lenses that are marked f2 or faster, this is a must have for shooting large apertures during the daytime. Even at f/2.8, you may find yourself hitting 1/5000s or 1/8000s without an ND filter. This filter lowers your shutter speed 3-stops without any noticeable color shifts or loss in image quality. If you're looking to shoot large apertures for video (e.g. 24fps at 1/50s), you may want to look into the 106M 6-stop version as well. Whether you shoot video or stills, I highly recommend using XUME adapters for easy removable and placement.
