Can this be used for setting raw parameters when shooting in near IF?
Asked by: John
No, the Datacolor SpyderCUBE cannot be used for setting RAW parameters when shooting in near-infrared (near-IF). It is specifically designed to provide spectrally neutral reference points for visible light.

How would this work with flash photography and light meter combination? RAW video seems to be straight forward since it uses similar workflow as RAW photo processing. This could be a game changer.
Asked by: Dario
Hi Dario, the use of SpyderCUBE is the same when using flash and a light meter or with natural/mixed lighting.

question

I am interested in trying this product, and just want to clarify how you should set your white balance IN camera while using the cube. Am I to understand correctly that you can just have your camera set to auto white balance (as opposed to setting a custom one off of a grey card) while taking a reference photo with the cube in it, and then just making the WB adjustments, etc. in your RAW post processing? Thank you :)

When shooting JPEG or compressed video, absolutely use the most accurate in-camera white balance you can, ideally with a grey card and certainly not auto WB. Auto is usually fine if shooting RAW, but using at least a preset may reduce workflow headaches later on (consistent recorded WB = consistent offset in editing). Hope this helps someone, a decade later... haha :)
