My prints on Ilford FB Warmtone Paper have rich blacks and long tonal range when developed with Ilford PQ Developer.

One of the greats

Although I tend to favor the semi-matte surface for my prints, I use the glossy for contact prints as well as for certain subjects that seem right for the gloss surface. The range and gradation of this emulsion has won high praise from serious printers for years for good reason. Fiver-base papers' longer development time allows better flexibility on occasion when shorter or longer times are desired, and the paper also tones nicely. On the toning, I wish it could tone a bit more in the high-mid and high values when full toning is not desired. The Foma paper apparently has a different emulsion composition that allows this, but that's why we enjoy having different papers. Let's hope we get more back.
