Nice Mat Cutter

The Logan Graphics 32 Compact Classic Mat Cutter is a good functional matboard cutter that gives you the option of using either the bevel cutting head or the straight cut mat knife. I found that the bevel cutting head was easier to operate and less error prone than the straight cut mat knife. Its harder to cut museum cotton rag board with this mat cutter than it is to cut conservation mat board. You just have to bear down a little harder when you cut. The bevel cutting head made it a little easier to cut rag board. Its a good handy mat cutter in the final analysis.

What is the different between logan 301-1 and 301-M ?

JACQUES, Go to the Logan site and the details are listed there. The 301-1 is 32', the 301-M is 30 I have the 301-1 which has also has a DVD with it. Ralph

can you also use this for general dry mounting tissue straight cutting?

Jay K. responded no , but I can't see why it wouldn't. With a sharp enough blade in the straight cutter the edge would act like any other straight edge. As with mat board, I would use the slip board underneath for the best chance at a good cut. You might try overlaying a thin veneer material to hold the material in place as well.Also, I have been cutting 8 ply mat board easily with ease on this tool. I soon learned to forget using the sliding cutting guide. It's ability to square with precision is useless - accurately measure and mark, then align with the the cutter bar works every time.
