Logan Graphics 350-1 overview

  • 1Description

The 32-Inch Compact Elite Mat Cutter from Logan is designed to cut mats of any length. Most mat cutters have 2 closed ends, limiting the size of the mat boards they can cut. With Logan's open-ended guide rail, you can cut mats of any size. The parallel mat guide lets you set your own border widths, ranging from 0.75" (1.9 cm) to 4.5" (11.4 cm).

The included Straight Cutter Elite and the hinged guide rail make accurate cutting easier. Even if you have never cut your own mat before, Logan's illustrated guide makes cutting mats easy.

    Logan Graphics 350-1 reviews

32" Compact Elite Mat Cutter is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some nice improvements I have a smaller Logan from many years ago. Predictably the old one is heavier and the pieces more substantial. But the new one, large enough for matting my 17x22 prints from the Epson 3800 is very good. And the design has been improved in small but important ways. They've changed the direction of the blade so as the cut begins, inadvertent matt movement has been eliminated---and no more need for that thumbnail to hold the matt as the blade is lowered. Terrific piece of engineering and great for serious work---not quite right for business; right for serious artist/photographer not doing mass production. Documentation and video instruction and matt cutting app. Nice package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It makes the job so much easier! This mat cutter is a blessing for me. It works so well. I advise anyone to follow the instructions to make sure it cuts well at right angle and its parallel is good. I have no negative comment against it but the finish of the board is more like a paper so you have to be carefull if you cut a large glass plate as the edge of the glass can damage the the edge of the board when we move it. I wish it was a hard finish but using a piece of mat board between the glass plate and the board should do the trick. I wish I had waited to buy it, a week or two later they offered the 40in long for only $10 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great item, great price I finally purchased this mat cutter in order to mat a bunch of pieces for an art show. I can't believe I waited this long! I'm very pleased with this cutter, it's easy to use and does the job. The only slight downside: The right arm of the cutter, which serves as a ruler, can cause pressure marks on your mat board when you press against it and finish the cut. This is easily remedied by keeping a scrap mat beneath yours, or by holding down on your mat to the right of the blade during the final 2 inches of the cut. Overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't wait... After waiting what seems like years to buy this, I can't believe I waited so long to buy this.It Is So Very Simple To Use! And the results are professional, clean and as advertised.Just finished cutting my first mat - a double - this afternoon after reviewing the clearly understandable video dvd which comes with the package. Really very nice. Exactly as I hoped.Since I can purchase 36 x 48 stock mat board at the local art supply, I told myself I should be doing this instead of paying the high cost of pre-cuts at the frame shops. As I did my first panoramic at 9 x 18, this would have cost even more to custom size over stock frame/mat sizes.I can't express enough how NICE it is to do this myself, with the freedom to create sizes which I can afford to present. If you've thought about creating your own, this model is a no-brainer. Hinges and hardware are solid, parts are well- labeled, instructions are clear (on the dvd, anyway...didn't read the user manual/visual learner, here... :) )and the result are wonderful.Only one complaint, and it's a pretty lame one, too...The package is designed to be a carry-all and storage for the cutter and accessories when not in use. Great Idea! They put the plastic carry handle on the wrong side of the box, allowing everything to fall out if the lid is not secure. Bad Idea!A piece of painter's masking tape takes care of the problem, but just saying... :/

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly perfect for our needs! We decided to by a mat cutter because we were changing up a lot the art in our home and my husband builds our frames. To get a custom mat done for our larger prints would have been very expensive. We know we will use this for years! I really like how easy the cutter is to use. It is very accurate, especially for the larger mats we've cut. I did find that it was a bit difficult to cut a 4x6 opening for a 5x7 frame...the edge of the mat was barely touching the cutter guide edge, which made it difficult to cut straight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Glad I bought it I am just getting into doing my own mats, and this looked like a good entry point. The process is not as easy as you would think, but it isn't rocket science. My first try was not stellar, but you can't see the mistakes behind the frame edge. My biggest problem was handling an entire 32x40 mat board, which I seem to have managed to cut out of square (the boards are very unwieldy). I took off one star because Logan has discontinued their v-groove cutters, which I had hoped to use for some pictures. Otherwise, this is a very fine device for those starting out matting their own artwork, and the features of the cutter greatly simplify the steps. It is solidly made, and hopefully will last many years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth the money This is the second mat cutter I've used, so I have something to compare it to. I found it easy to use right out of the box with a ton of handy features. The only drawback that I've encountered so far is that it is difficult to square up your mat and I end up using a ruler to double check myself before I make a cut. A second ruler for setting length would be handy. This is a huge step up from my other mat cutter and I would recommend it to anyone shopping in this price range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic product!! My parents were both artists, working in the era of manual mat cutting. My dad tried to show me how to do it, and watching him slice a smooth bevel using just a ruler and an exacto knife looked easy enough... it's impossible. I'm still convinced he's magic. I will say, however, that the Logan makes cutting smooth clean mats a breeze. Wonderful! One quick note: never forget to use the slip sheet when cutting... keeps the nice side of your mat from fraying.
