Auray MS-5230F Reviews
Flimsy and poorly made

These mic stands were purchased with the intent to use them regularly (once a week or so), but after the second use, the crossbar hub could not keep tension well, so the crossbar would fall and drop the mic. Even before using it, I could tell it was poorly made because there is hard plastic melted into multiple of the screws that are supposed to allow you to adjust the mic stand. Adjusting it was near impossible past a certain point because of the hard plastic blocking the grooves of the screw.
O.K. for studio or practice space

Fine for the price. It's not rugged enough for the road.

question
will i be able to put a reflection filter on this mic stand? or will i have to buy ANOTHER stand for it?
The Auray MS-5230F mic stand is able to support most lightweight reflection filters. We do recommend using a stand with no boom for the best support and positioning.

question
Can the arm of this stand be removed so that I can hold it myself? I would like to be able to choose whether the arm is mounted on the stand or handheld, but I can't quite tell from the photos and description of this stand if that's possible. Thank you!
Yes the arm can be removed but the arm itself is not really that long and therefore not designed for that. This works great for one man jobs where you are setting up the camera and also doing the interviews.

question
I recently got this stand for the college I work at. The locking handle for the telescopic shaft seems to be poorly threaded, preventing me from locking the shaft into place. Everything else looks fine. Can I get a replacement handle? If so, how?
I purchased a separate 19 inch gooseneck microphone boom for 8 dollars and replaced the telescopic shaft.

The tripod legs of the Auray stands offers stability when placed on several surfaces including carpeted floors.

Could I mount a K&M 23550 Adjustable Microphone ...
Could I mount a K&M 23550 Adjustable Microphone Bar on top of this in place of the boom if I wanted to use a stereo mic configuration?
You probably could. If not, an adapter is very accessible. However, I really don't recommend buying this product. Mine broke in 6 months and I only use it in a controlled private recording studio once a week.

question
Would this work with a rode videomic pro and will I have to buy a 3/8 to 1/4 converter
Yes - it will work fine: The mic has a standard camera shoe and a 3/8 threaded mount for easy attachment to cameras and boom poles.

My Rode VideoMic NTG doesn't seem to have the mount to connect to this mic stand. What product should I buy to connect the two?
You need an adapter like this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1325276-REG/auray_ad_5838_b_mic_stand_adapter.html

Can a Rode Video Mic Pro be directly attached to the boom pole?
You would need a 3/8'' male to 5/8'' female adapter to be able to do that, like B&H # AUAD5838B for example.
