    Auray MS-5220T reviews

MS-5220T Short Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy Stand! I will use this short stand when videotaping small childrens' graduation services and school plays. A full-sized stand is so tall that it blocks the view of the childrens' faces. This stand will allow me to set a microphone underneath their faces and point it upward at about chin level. This stand is very sturdily built of steel, with proturbances over each leg to hold the leg in place. Thus, the legs do not flop around if you lift the stand off the floor to move it about. The hand grip firmly locks the stand at the height you select, and the locks on the boom feel strong as they lock the boom at the length you select. This mic stand is totally flexible, as any quality mic stand should be. I was actually not expecting such quality at this price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from high quality, low price I just recieved my Auray short tripod mic stand with boom, and am very pleased with the quality. I took a chance on this new product based on the description, photos, and price -- and I am glad I did. I am a lifelong professional musician (sing and play acoustic guitar) with the occasional need to provide my own gear for jobs. I have a couple normal length tripods with telescoping stands. But I have been looking for a shorter version for two purposes -- one, to act as a vocal mic stand when I do a seated gig, and two, to use as an instrument mic stand when I stand up. I am a tall guy, so I needed a stand a little taller than a lot of short drum or amp mic stands that are out there. Ironically, most manufacturers charge EXTRA for making a shorter stand. I was considering buying a cheap full length stand and doing hacksaw surgery when I saw the new Auray line at B&H.The extended length is perfect for both my purposes, and much less obtrusive than a full length stand for a seated performance. Yet I am sure it would be short enough for any kick drum or guitar amp micing -- but that is not my usage. The guality is high. I wouldn't say premium quality, but everything is sturdy and works well. The design is very well thought out. The base for the tripod legs, for instance, is a plastic hub outside, but inside, the interior assembly is all steel -- hinges are steel, with steel half pipes in to clip, protect and hold open the legs. All the appointments are durable, the tubes are steel, and yet it all is very handy, short and light when folded up. It beats anything I could do with a hacksaw! I will look upon the new Auray line as a good option from now on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for a snare drum I bought this to mic up my snare drum so I wouldn't have to clip the mic onto the rim. I found a regular sized boom mic was too tall and clunky, so after a little research on B&H I came across this little guy. Perfect size and height, sturdy, and nice, tight fitting screw locks. Exactly what I needed, I'll probably end up buying a couple more of these!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mic stand Great, lightweight mic stand. I wouldn't hang a vintage Neumann 67 on it but for live use with a Shure SM58 or something similar its excellent. I've had one for several months, no issues, just bought 2 more. If you want to cut down on the weight that you schlep to gigs this is a great way to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product - Exactly What I Needed Not much to say. This is a simple, effective and well built mic stand. I don't travel much, so I haven't really put it to the rugged-factor test, but for a standing floor mic in my humble home studio it's great and you can't beat the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good enough K&M competitor For the price it's more than adequate. Don't get Jamsticks, they break and don't separate. This basically is cheaper version of the K&M stands (which are the best) but as a non-audio guy this is more than adequate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice stand for the money Bought this to use on kick drums, snare drums, and guitar cabinets. Very sturdy as long as you don't over-extend the boom. Folds into a small package and the price is right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good economical compact mic stand You can use these for micing drums, guitars or seated saxes. Much more convenient then full-sized stands and a cleaner look on stage.
