ISOPOD Line Level Summing Balancer for iPod is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Summing; not just an adapter This does more than merely adapting from 3.5mm to XLR. For most PA uses, where one needs to run output from an iPad or other portable device into a mixer, it should be mono and balanced. A splitter adapter cable that goes from XLR to stereo 3.5mm male is ONLY suitable for converting from XLR to dual channel mono out via 3.5mm. The process doesn't work in reverse unless you use a transformer like this that specifically sums the two stereo channels to create a proper mono mix (not just one stereo channel, which may be missing important parts of the mix that are in the other channel). This works perfectly, and I use it several times per year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy Hardware I was looking for an interface for my MP3 player to my digital remote stage box, PA speaker, and PA announcer booth at the stadium for background music during intermission. The best thing about this DI is it's portability, and I only use one input to my sound board or other components. The Isopod does not attenuate the output signal like a regular passive DI box. The signal is clear and distinct. No noticeable RF noise. Great economical item to have in your audio inventory.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Handy device with low build quality This little thing does what it says and does it well- for a while. My issue is that they fall apart after a few months of use. I buy a couple each year to replace the broken ones. I wrap them in tape and put a dab of glue on the set screw, but they still get loose and the 1/8 jack eventually pulls out. These are not up to Whirlwind's usual high build quality. I keep buying more because this is the only device like it I can find!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for computer sound hookups We often have to add computer sound to portable systems or the main theater stage on campus. The Whirlwind Isopod is the easiest, inexpensive way to adapt from XLR to miniplug in one step.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works like a charm! Stereo 3.5mm TRS in, balanced mono XLR out. Perfect for my purposes and passive, so no bulky power supply required. Just does what it says it will.
