The transformerless Class-A output circuitry provides a noise-free-output signal path while maintaining high gain levels.

There is a 3-position low-frequency roll-off switch, eliminating low-frequency rumble noise and counteracting proximity effect. The KSM141/SL handles high sound-pressure levels and features a 3-position pad switch providing attenuation at 0, 15, 25 dB. This allows for confident miking of instruments high in transient response such as drums, percussion, and brass. The microphone is also suitable for recording piano, strings, guitar, and woodwinds. The KSM141/SL ships with a case, two microphone clips, two foam wind screens, and the A27M stereo stand adapter.

Switchable Patterns
The KSM141/SL features switchable polar patterns. Omnidirectional offers a generous pickup pattern suitable for recording ambiance, vocal groups etc. The cardioid pattern is tighter and provides effective rejection of off-axis signal.
Class-A Transformerless Circuitry
The transformerless, Class-A output circuitry provides a noise free output signal path while maintaining high gain levels.
3-Position Low-Frequency Roll-Off Switch
The KSM141/SL provides flexible low-frequency attenuation, eliminating low-frequency noise and rumble.
3-Position Pad Switch
The 0, 15, and 25 dB Pad switch adds greater SPL-handling allowing the microphone to withstand high audio levels without distortion.
Wide Frequency Response
The microphone offers a wide 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response making it a flexible microphone for a variety of applications.

Shure KSM141 Reviews

Poor Man's Schoeps

I record a lot of live mostly classical music concerts and recitals. I've got a panoply of microphones and wouldn't you know it my mainstay Schoeps had to go off for repairs to Germany (a 2 month turnaround at best). I also own an old pair of KSM 137, (which are TERRIFIC mics) but I dropped one, so it is also out for repair (Shure's turnaround maybe a week!). With one final concert before the end of the season I had no reliable SDC pair so decided to purchase these 141s and try them out in Cardioid ORTF in front of two vocalists. In comparison to the Schoeps or 137 or Neumann and by only one use there is a winner here that can tag along for spots, ambience or even mains. With the added choice for Omnis, which I have not tried yet, I am pretty confident the detail and trueness to sound and response should work out very well. I was told a while back by an old pro that the 137s and 141s are good substitutes for the Schoeps, the 141's similar to the MK5 capsules. Well worth it. My advice, don't drop your mics or pull out a live 48p cable! Power down and keep a steady hand.

What could I use for wind protection for this? Something like a rycote is preferred.
Asked by: Ryan
If being used on stereo bar for a Spaced Pair or ORTF setup, you could use two of the Rycote Baby Ball Gag's and their additional windjammers, B&H # RYBBG20 and BH #RYBBGWJ. If looking to do an XY inside of a blimp, the closest option we offer is the Rycote Stereo Cyclone Kit 1,B&H # RYCXYK1. However please note it is sized for a 3'' in length mic and the KSM are 5.75'' and may not fit properly.

How does the KSM141/SL ST pair differ from the previous KSM141/ST pair?
Asked by: David
Thank you, Lisa, for your rapid response. Might you say whether the "no difference" is based on your personal (informed [no offense intended]) consideration, or information from Shure? Thank you. DG
