A NEAT LENS TO OWN

Even though this is really a toy camera type lens, it still works great on my Canon T2i Camera. It takes really neat pictures. I am going to modify it slightly by adding a way to put regular filters on it. If I put a 43mm to 55mm up adaptor ring on it and glue the up ring to it, I will then be able to screw on regular 55mm filters. You can do the same if you buy or have one. Just use a 4 mm to up ring to whatever size filters ytou have.

Lose the diffuser!

I was expecting a lens, not a lens with a diffuser that causes and artful vignette. I don't need the vignette, I can do that in photoshop, thank you. The diffuser need to come out. So much for the $20 experiment.

Love this lens. Cheaper than using my Holga film camera!

Fun... but a little limiting

I enjoyed my toy Holga back when I would print film, so when I saw that there was a Holga lens for my DSLR, I was super excited. But this lens does not play well with my Cannon Rebel T7. It works well for landscapes, but trying to use it for 1/2 and 1/4 portrait photos requires that you be at a fair distance away to get a subject in focus. It is a mash-up of different levels of technology and because of that it lacks what was great about the Holga and what is great about DSLR photography.

Please see my review of the Nikon F-Mount version that I also bought. A great addition for special effects.

A Vintage Lens with Vintage Performance

I have an Holga camera with flash. This lens, on my D780 gives near identical results, vignetting and softening f the image to give a beautiful effect. However, you need to raise the ISO to a much higher value to be able to see the image and to use a reasonable shutter speed. All-in-all, a great special-lens addition to my Nikon system!

Asked by: John
This lens gives a sort of toy camera look to it. The images are soft in some areas and the color and light look uneven to give it an old instamatic film camera look.

The directions say I should be able to change the aperature but when I attach it to my lens and put it in manual, the aperture just says F-- and I can't change it. I also can't figure out how to get the flash to work. How do I get it to allow me to change aperture and also use the flash?
Asked by: Emma
When using the Holga Lens for Nikon DSLR Camera,F/8 lens, one cannot change aperture, because the lens only has one aperture, ( f/8 ). When this lens is connected to the Nikon body you have chosen, the flash will not function. It is possible that mounting this Holga lens on a different camera body, may facilitate the flash function.
