    Holga HL-N reviews

Lens for Nikon DSLR Camera is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from INFINITE COSMIC PHOTOS Ittybitty lens... Ok, this lens is just too much fun to pass up. It costs next to nothing, and with some creativity you can do great things with it. I like to use it as a cover for my camera body when I am storing it. That way I get even more use out of it. That also makes for more spontaneous shooting. I would not call it well made but it's not going to just fall apart on you. It is by design a cheap toy lens. It wiggles on my DSLR body a bit, and feels loose. But again that's the point. It has a crude focus scale on it, but the pictures tend to be out of focus all the time. But again (again), so what? In the end for as little as you are paying just have fun with it. After all, odds are that's why you are looking at it anyways. Now buy it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from for this cheap why not? in a world where you want sharp crisp high quality photos, this probably doesn't seem like the best lens, and it isn't, it is what it is, it if purely a lens you get to have fun, and for the price i would say get it. its a toy lens that you can use on your digital camera, or if you still take 35mm. but if you want that Holga look on your digital photos get this lens, it is awesome, only got it 4 days ago and have not taken it off my camera. in the urban setting i live in it adds a grungy look to the photos i take. what normally would be a con on most lens are in this case, pros. cause thats what you get this lens for. good by instagram.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing but dark After being in love with my Holga 120 and shooting film with it for a while AND being in love with my Nikon DSLR, I am SUPER stoked about the Holga lens for my Nikon. It is amazingly simple to put on, just like changing your lens. You get the softly out of focus, vignetted effect, and slight over-saturation of colors that we Lomographers have come to love.I'm most excited that I get to see immediate results when I use my slew of filters rather then waiting until I develop and scan the negatives, only to forget what I did.The only negative, is that even in broad daylight and with a flash, it's still rather dark. The aperture is TINY and fixed. So even outdoors, I have to use a 125 or 60 shutter speed WITH my flash to get a shot. I'm considering enlarging the hole, but don't want to damage the lens...BEST $ spent!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple and easy to use This is a great way to get the Holga look with a DSLR. I have been wanting to reproduce the look of pinhole cameras without having to use darkroom chemicals, and this lets me do that. It's plastic but seems to be well made. The focusing is a little vague, (manually dial in a mountain, a face, etc.) but if it's a bit out of focus it just adds to the Holga experience, in my opinion.I also bought the Holga .5X wide angle adapter, which lets me get a bit more in the frame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice lomo effect! I'm really happy with this purchase. It's a very cheap lens that lets you experiment and use your imagination a bit more than usual. Never owned an actual Holga camera before but this lens gets the job done as far as taking Holga-like pictures. Just remember to set your camera to manual (M), it won't work on the shutter (S) or aperture (A) priority setting. Only downside is that the lens is a little lose when attached to the camera body. Also the lens is a fixed f8 so you're going to need a lot of light if you're hand shooting it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from In the Dark? I use this lens primarily for hobby work. IE: Street/landscape-- what it's recommended for, ironically. And it's a wonderful little lens, with some drawbacks. The Pros?: It's lightweight. Easy to carry, and compact. I can tuck it atop my 50mm in my bag, and not worry. Once you get the front/rear lens caps off for the first time, they come off with ease. And it's all in all, really neat to shoot with. I've only gotten to use it a few times, due to weather, but hey! I love it! The shots I get feel cozy, like memories, and that's probably what I'm enjoying the most about it. The Cons: To be able to use this lens, you need a TON of light. Regular daylight just ain't gonna cut it. You need a gorgeous sunny day with as much sunlight as possible, for this lens to take well lit pictures. A cloudy day doesn't cut it either. Has to be really bright, and in the middle of winter, you're limited to shooting hours, because of sunset, as well as weather, unfortunately.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great lens to increase your creativity This is a great little lens that will definitely force you to be creative. It's very lightweight and made of low grade plastic, so I don't have to take extreme care of it like my glass lenses. Having it on a DSLR is nice so you can crank up the ISO when needed since the viewfinder will be quite dark. The TTL metering does tend to get tricked with this lens, so I also use a light meter (cell phone app) to save time. The only downside to this lens is the cheap interface to the camera mount. I feel it can definitely let dust and debris in which can foul up the sensor.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from FrankenNikon? Holgastein? 35mm film isn't expensive, but it ain't cheap either. This lens attachment gives you the opportunity to snap away with your Nikon DSLR in manual mode for free. I got one for my D60 and I've had a lot of fun with it so far. Also, I've become more comfortable with my film-powered Holga's focusing without wasting money on blurry photos. With this little plastic lens, you can really experiment and learn.
