The Holga lens provides an inexpensive effect that would be difficult to reproduce.

I've wanted to try this lens out for some time thinking it would be great for cemetery photography. It is difficult to see the image through the eyepiece, unless it's bright out, but Live View helped considerably. I got a few fun shots the first time taking it out and am looking forward to shooting with it again! For $20 and a new challenge, this is well worth the money.
It really is what it is..

If you ever did shoot with a Hola plastic camera 120 film, you will not be happy with it. But if you just want to experiment and play with a tool that will give you a somewhat pinhole look its worth getting it. Not a tool for a full frame camera, much better edges with cropped sensors 1,5 or 1,6x or in combination with an extension tube.

I have several cameras but non of these particular lenses so decided to give the website a try I've read both good and bad reviews for B&H but I am SO glad I tired them out, both my lenses (1 was Canon 1 was Nikon) came super fast, packed perfectly so very nicely protected, and exactly what was advertised on the website, I will absolutely purchase from B&H again.
In fact I'm currently on the hunt for a new Camera and these guys are number 1 on the list to find one I want.
Thank you for making my transactions easy, fast and perfect condition I'm extremely impressed.

I don't like ending on negative notes, so I'll start with the bad first.
The lens is rated at f/8, and while it technically is, it functions way more like f/22. So it's going to need a decent ISO, even in fairly bright conditions, and if using an optical viewfinder it's going to be quite dark.
The circle ring around the main aperture that creates the vignette becomes pretty well defined at close focus distances, so you may end up with an uneven flower-shaped vignette around the image. May or may not be desirable.
On the upside, this lens does create a certain analog-ish feel on images. The lack of tack sharp focusing and chromatic aberration oddly enough adds to it. Normally I run RAW images through DxO for their noise reduction and lens sharpening. Since this lens isn't registered in their database I was disappointed I couldn't use some of the functions, but later thought that adds even more to the low quality style. Being 100% manual focus and never having to adjust an aperture gave me a certain freedom while shooting. I started feely positioning the camera at odd angles I usually wouldn't think of with a regular set up.
Now that I've played with a bit, I'm getting the hang of using it and learning when to expect certain quirks I thought were annoying at first. For the price, this is definitely a nice little lens to mess around with. It obviously will never take the place of a real lens, but it can, to me, give better results for the style than trying to run a sharp, noiseless, properly expose image through Photoshop to try and artificially create a Holga look.
