I am using a TZe-335 tape, will not print in black?
TZe-335 has a black background with white text. Try TZe-231 for white background and black text. There are other varieties as well.

Sounds like you inserted the tape incorrectly, have a bad print head, or got a bad tape. Do other tapes work correctly in your machine?
