This cold shoe is among the relatively few having the opening for receiving the locking pin on Canon Speedlites and other flash units. HOWEVER, it required so much force to slide the flash unit's foot into place on the shoe that I will never use it again for fear of damaging the electrical contacts on the bottom of the foot. Buy the Really Right Stuff or Kirk cold shoes instead, which as an added advantage, are both made in the USA, unlike this cheaply-made cold shoe.
