    CBP-N2 Compact Battery Pack for Nikon SB-900, SB-910 & SB-5000 Flashes is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 89.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I just love it so much!!! I was having nothing but problems with my nikon sb990 over heating. After buying the Bolt all of my problems have disappeared! I'm shooting without having to wait and I'm thrilled. Forget about what others are saying about this unit, the negative comments. Just forget about those negative comments! I'm using it daily and not one of the problems has occurred with either of my units. This Bolt battery pack is AWESOME! It's shooting as fast as I need it to. It's holding up like your hitting on all 12 cylinders in a Farrari! If you take care of your equipment then you won't have any problems from this unit. I heard someone comment on the unit misfiring, pulling on the cord too hard will damage any unit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from You may want to test them upon receiving I ordered three of them and all of them worked fine with SB-900. But recycling time was off on two of them while connected to CB-910 with the same 8 batteries and the same flash: the good one was recycling in 3-4 sec, the other one was 8 sec, and the third was taking up to 20 seconds, so I figured two of them were faulty and I replaced them. Just got unlucky with the first order. With fully charged batteries the recycling time with SB-910 should be around 2-3 sec. Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you dont have one you are missing out I am the one who does not like to go the cheap route on my equipment, but I tried one just to see and compare it to my Nikon Battery Pack. It works just as well as my Nikon it just a $ cheaper. So, I got another one for my other SB 910. If you have a SB 900 or 910 this my must have one. I can shoot entire weddings and events with out changing batteries.I do wish the case had a better way to attach it to my belt like the Nikon or to a light stand. Currently you have to take your belt off and slide it through the loop to attach it. For the a light stand I have twist-tie around the belt loop on the case to hang it on a light stand. But as far as it doing its job, it does with out problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast as Nikon SD-9 Never used the Nikon SD-9 but recently bought this as a cheaper alternative. Checked the SB-910 owners manual to get the specs for recycle time with the SD-9. Specs in the manual were minimum recycle times with 12 eneloops of approximately 0.8 seconds. Using a stopwatch and 12 fresh eneloops, I got recycles of 0.8 to 1.0 seconds, average of 0.87 seconds, when tested using the manual-described procedure of a full power 1/1 manual flash every 30 seconds. I also performed this same test using Sanyo XX batteries and got recycles of 0.8 to 1.0 seconds, average of 0.89 seconds. (Test consisted of 10 shots in the series.) Someone here said the Bolt doesn't recycle as fast as the SD-9 but I'm wondering if this is coming from the listed specs here which may have been with alkalines instead of eneloops. (Alkalines are spec'd slower than eneloops with these devices.) That reviewer didn't say he had actually tested times for himself, as what I did. I'm thinking he may have been comparing the spec'd times of the Bolt with alkalines against the SD-9 with eneloops. The padded case that comes with the Bolt pack is decent. It's basically the same case as what comes with the Canon flash battery pack but without the tie-down to hold the cord in place. It's nice that Bolt offers an optional battery tray for this, which I will be buying to load with spare batteries for quick swap outs on the job site. (Some other SD-9 alternatives do not offer an optional battery tray.) By the way, the SB-910 manual states that recycle times with the SD-9 are slower with 4 batteries in the tray than 8. Never tested 4 in the Bolt but I would imagine it would be the same. Additionally, I ran a second test where I altered the factory test procedure by, instead of waiting 30 seconds between flashes, I fired as soon as the ready light came on, so just a few seconds between flashes. This procedure yielded 1.0 second recycles range 0.8 to 1.2 with eneloops and 1.1 second recycles range 0.8 to 1.2 with Sanyo XX. (Ran this test three times firing 10 shots in a series.)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty good ... For 1/2 the price of Nikon battery pack, it does what it's supposed to do. I still think they are more expensive than they ought to be; $39.95 seem more like the right price.I also took off a star because the battery door is somewhat fiddly and fragile; you have to be careful and patient or else it seems easily damaged. Comes with a case similar the Nikon unit. Serviceable unit: 3 1/2 stars

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth the cost I have only used this external battery pack on one job so far so not much to report. It worked fine with the voltage drop of the batteries in the Nikon SB-900 being much less than for the batteries in the external battery pack. Recycling was fast and the flash did not overheat as it sometimes has on past gigs. The connecting cord from my belt 'mounted' battery pack to the flash on a bracket sometimes got tangled in front of the lens. This means I need to be more aware and perhaps carry it differently. Removable cell holder seems delicate as noted in previous reviews, but no issue handling it with a little care.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I think it's working? Hook twp pf these up to two sb-910s on lightstands. Im not positive they are fully functioning, because the 910 batteries will always drain as well. Maybe i am in the wrong settings, but i was under the impresssion that the speedlight would use the battery pack batteries first. The flashes do not funtion without charged batteries in the compartment. The slide to open the battery doors seems very weak, and i'm always worried i am going to snap them apart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It Works As Advertised I've wanted a battery pack for my SB900 but didn't want pay the price for Nikon's version (double the price). I saw this one, read the reviews and decided to try it. I've had it for a couple weeks and have found it to work great. Recycle speeds are excellent...I was impressed at the recycle times even at full power. I recommend using Ni-MH batteries for max power. Build quality is OK, but tough enough for occasional uses. I plan to use it for long events such as parties or weddings. I highly recommend it...for the price you can' t beat it if your on a budget. It works as advertised I just hope it lasts.
