I was looking for a part for Elinchrom Quadra Reflector Adapter MK-II and I am glad I found it. My other option was paying $120 for the new adapter. After installing this part I realized it is a little bit too wide to fit. Still I managed to stick it in. Wish they sold the part made for the adapter not just a mono-light heads.

Why on earth do they make these things out of plastic.� It hasn't even been a years worth of use and mine cracked at the screw.

Will this fit the Elinchrom 500 Classic (metal one) ?
I contacted Elinchrom concerning your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, the Elinchrom Complete BRX/BXRi Tilt Head would not be compatible for use with the Elinchrom 500 Classic monolight. They instead recommend the Elinchrom PLASTIC TILT MOUNT, B&H # ELEP901201 • MFR # EP901.201, for your stated usage needs.

Is it metal? If plastic, is it stronger than the original?
No, unfortunately it's still plastic. Mine broke where the screw tightens against the light stand, so that was all I needed. It still seems to be the same as before, so I'll have to be extra careful.
