With a second rechargeable battery to match the one that comes with the EPIC Pro, you're ready for long days of shooting gorgeous, monumental panoramas.

GigaPan EPIC Pro Robotic Camera Mount

The EPIC Pro Robotic Camera Mount from GigaPan is a unique camera mount that empowers most DSLR cameras with the ability to capture gigapixel (one billion pixels) panoramic images with phenomenally high resolution, depth and clarity. It will support camera and lens combinations weighing up to 10 lb / 4.5kg, is easy to use and remarkably efficient.

Simply set the corners of the panorama you want to capture using the LCD interface.
The built-in software works out how many photos your camera will need to take, hundreds or even thousands. Then the EPIC Pro begins snapping the photos, automatically organizing them in overlapping rows and columns. After shooting, the GigaPan Stitch software (free download included) assembles, aligns and blends the individual images into one large panorama. The software then lets you to upload your panorama to GigaPan.com for sharing. You also can embed your uploaded panorama onto any website.

Also included is the EPIC Pro Camera Mount Vice/Clamp, which is an Arca-type compatible mount that permits side-to-side adjustment of your camera and lens. Epic Pro Makes Pano Photography Easy and Effortless

    By Neil
    Rated 5 out of 5

I have read about the Epic Pro Robotic Camera Mount for several years now and finally took the plunge and purchased one from B&H. I have been totally please with the results. It is very easy to setup for Panorama Photography. My first test panorama went flawlessly. The motorized head performed quickly and efficiently, you can even program the head to insert a delay between exposures to minimize mirror slap vibration and changes in exposure. In operation you mount the head on your tripod, level it off, and mount your camera. Mine is a Canon 5DSR and my first pano was with the Canon L-Series 24-105mm set at 105mm. Your basically use the left-right-up-down arrow buttons on the pano head to register the upper right corner of your frame and then using those same button to register the lower right corner of the frame. The pano head will then indicate the field of view in degrees and display the number of exposures to take the pano. You can also set the amount of overlap between photos for your stitching software. At this point you have the option to simulate the pano session upon which the pano head moves to the upper right corner and then moves to the lower right corner. It will ask a series of questions for you to check such as camera mode, focus mode, etc and all you do is press START to take the pano. Very simple and efficient, just sit back and watch while it does all the work. One thing to note, I would highly recommend purchasing a very stable tripod to minimize vibration. I bought a Really Right Stuff TVC-33 tripod with Levelling Base from B&H and it is ideal for this Pano Head. I have taken up to 200 Exposures on a very large panorama. Somewhere around 150-175 Exposures in my case the battery ran-out. At this point the head will stop and you insert the spare battery (I bought one with the pano head), turn it on, and it will offer to resume where it left off, very nice touch, was not expecting that, but it makes perfect sense. Highly recommended.

    question

How do you determine the nodal point setting?
    Asked by: Anonymous
To determine your camera's nodal point with the GigaPan EPIC Pro Robotic Camera Mount, first mount your camera on the EPIC. You then select a scene with one object in the foreground, and another in the distant background, being obscured by the the foreground object. Ideally, your foreground object is a minimum of ten feet from your camera setup. You then set your camera to its full zoom level, and position the camera so the foreground object is at the left edge of your screen with the background object obscured behind it. You will then want to rotate the EPIC so the foreground object is now on the right edge of your screen/viewfinder. Loosen the platform screw and move the platform forward or backward until you can no longer see the background object. Once the background object is always hidden regardless of the direction your camera is facing, your nodal point has been found.
