The Auto Extension Tube Set for Nikon from Vello allows your lens to focus closer than its normal minimum focus distance. By placing distance between your camera body and lens, focusing distance is shortened and the effect of magnifying your subject is created. Extension tubes enable macro performance for lenses not otherwise able to focus that close, and are also suited for close-up portraiture. The Auto Extension Tube Set for Nikon contains three extension tubes of 12mm, 20mm, and 36mm lengths. They can be used individually or together in seven distinct combinations to create the desired magnification effect. For closer focusing use the larger extension tube or stack the tubes together. Extension tubes have no optical elements so do not degrade the quality of your lenses.

These tubes are fully automatic tubes in that they are able to communicate all electronic functions from lens to camera including autofocus and auto exposure. They are compatible with all AF and AF-S lenses. Electronic aperture control is not possible with Nikon AI lenses. They are built with metal lens mounts for durability and longevity and enable you to convert almost any lens into a macro lens at a fraction of the cost while maintaining the lens' original optical quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what was needed.... In the past, I had not quite gotten the hang of extension tubes. Then, recently, I wanted to use my telephoto as a close-up lens and remembered extension tubes. Not wanting to invest in the more expensive name brand while trying to learn how to use tubes effectively,I searched the Internet for recommendations and kept seeing good reviews for the Vello set. I was not disapppointed. I've now used the set on my Nikon 300mm f4(old version) and my Tokina 100mm f/2.8 Macro and have no complaints. And on top of it all, this Vello set keeps full autofocus and exposure compatibility which I find very useful.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Ugh... I wanted it to be good! At first the extension tubes work well and shortened the focusing distance. I shot a full day with them. Towards the end of the day i noticed a stickiness felt like substance around my bayonet mount. I realized that it was coming off the material inside the tubes. Luckily i was able to clean it off without hurting the camera! (refer to the pictures on b & h website to see what i am talking about.) Then towards the end of the day, the tubes lost connection with the camera giving me a 'fee' error. After some fiddling with them i found that the 20mm tube was causing connection issues. The other two worked fine. I wanted them to work, but there are too many issues to keep them in my gear.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They work but. not the best build quality The extension tube set from Vello comes in a box with three different sizes 12 mm, 20mm, and 36 mm (for Nikon Camera). If you don't read the directions, you may find that lining up the attachements and lens may take a bit of figuring out. There is an arrow on the extension tube, and a white mark (similar to lens). Need to line up lens with the arrow and not the white mark. It would have been better if they kept their system in line with lens and camera manufacturers to make things easier. Other than that, they're made of plastic. They work, but not sure how long they will last if you do macro photography alot. Price is right though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great There have been a few reviews that state the tubes are hard to attach... I disagree, they are very simple to attach and use. On the tube that connects to the body line up the arrow and turn. Add more tubes and or glass line up the dots and turn. I have used the tubes on the following camera bodies and with lens' listed. D610...D7100...D5100 All Nikkor AF- Glass meters and will AF if the camera/ lens has the ability ... I have also used the tubes with Tokina 80-200 F2,8 manual focus, Nikkor AIs 35-105mm manual focus, Nikkor AI 135 mm 2,8. They work and work well... My only negative is they are plastic with metal mount's... but thats just me being picky.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great value from Vello I have been considering another macro lens as the Nikon 40mm DX which is a great lens, requires you to be very close in order to obtain good images. When photographing flowers and insects I wanted someting that would allow me to get the close up photo while maintaing a less intrusive presence. I have considered other extension tubes but quality and price kept me away. With the Vello I found the best of both worlds. Great price and reasonable construction. Even though the bodies are plastic the mounting rings are metal. The overall feel is good. I have used each individually as well as all three at one time and am very satisfied in any combination. Even with all three attached to my 55-300mm lens, the balance and feel is great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish I got the Kenko tubes instead This is my first attempt at macro photography. Just wanted to play around with the technique. For my purposes, I'm happy with the results. What I don't like is when attaching the tubes, it feels a bit tight before it 'snaps' into place. I don't like encountering that 'tightness'. I feel like I'm forcing it into place. I hear the same comments on YouTube, but have not heard of anyone experiencing any damage to their camera. I hear Kenko tubes are recommended a lot, but they are about $75 more...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Vello Extension Tubes Work Well I have had the Vello tubes for 3 weeks now. I have used them for about 100 exposures. They work very well. As advertized i did have to slow my shutter speed to get enough light, but i used a tripod for 99% of the shots. The only reason I did not give five stars is because i thought the release buttons were a little tight and sticky. The mating surfaces for the tube to camera attachments were just a little sharp. Just be carefull attaching the tubes to the camera. I used these tubes with the Nikkor 18-300mm lens and at many different focal lenghts. My images turned out very well. Auto focusing was a little slow. I would recommend these extension tubes to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I buy this kit to do some macro shots with the 18-140mm who came with my D7100. The results are fantastic. With all extension tubes combined, the picture is still sharp. I also made a DIY pop up flash tube/diffuser which allows me to use smaller aperture so a greater depth of field. I recommend this product to anyone who want to do macro photography but before buy it, do some research about other options like reversing your lens, close-up filters, to find the best option for your lens.@/Cheers and sorry for my english.
