The 2.9" Multi-Purpose Rail from Really Right Stuff is a double dovetail plate designed to mount to the bottoms of medium and large format cameras, and the rail will also accommodate to a telephoto lens foot that does not exceed 1.75" in length. The rail has 1.42" of slotted length, so the lens foot can be adjusted on top of the rail.

Really Right Stuff MPR-73 Overview

The 2.9" Multi-Purpose Rail from Really Right Stuff is a double dovetail plate designed to mount to the bottoms of medium and large format cameras, and the rail will also accommodate to a telephoto lens foot that does not exceed 1.75" in length. The rail has 1.42" of slotted length, so the lens foot can be adjusted on top of the rail.

Once the lens has been secured to the rail with the 3/8'-16 screws and adjusted; the MPR-C flange can be installed to prevent twisting on a ball head or clamp.

I love RRS products but think an upgrade could have been made on this. I speak of the lock down screw, it's an allen head screw. I have to make sure I carry an allen wrench with me now whereas they could have used a folding wing for finger use.

Is this rail recommended for the collar on the Leica R70-180 to fit on RRS L bracket?

I do not have that lens but according to Really Right Stuff web site, they recommend plate number MPR-73. Contact them directly to confirm. It will fit in any standard Arca style dovetail clamp. Their products are consistently of excellent quality. Hope that helps. I

Yes, the Really Right Stuff 2.9" Multi-Purpose Rail (1/4"-20) will fit the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM Z Lens (White) foot. The plate has a rail with a slotted length of 1.42". The distance between the threads in this lens is 1.1"; therefore, you can align the plate. You will need a bushing adapter for the lens's 3/8-16 thread. Will this fit using two screws to the foot of the AF-S NIKKOR 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR lens? I estimate the two threaded holes in the lens foot to be on 30mm centers.
