question

will the product work with both Mac and Windows without reformatting? Is there a utility that will allow this to happen?
Asked by: Anonymous
You can set the drive to ExFAT mode to accomplish this after running the Lacie Setup.LaCie Setup Assistant does not prevent you from using your computer's native disk utility program to format your LaCie drive. Simply follow the Setup Assistant through completion, then use Disk Management for Windows or Disk Utility for Mac to reformat your drive. Select the ExFAT format if you want both Macs and Windows to be able to Read & Write to the drive. Please note: A limiation of ExFAT is you can not have a single file larger than 4GB.

The mini is physically smaller, has only a USB port, and is bus-powered. The Rugged has both USB and Firewire ports, and has its own power source.

Faster data and power transfer. Also, the plug end is symmetrical. No more jamming and flipping the plug to insert.
