Can this actually allow true live monitoring while microphone feeds to iPhone?
Yes, the Sescom iPhone / iPod / iPad 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm Mic Jack & 3.5mm Monitor Jack can be used for monitoring while using a microphone to record on the iPhone, as long as the app that you are using provides an amplified output signal that can drive headphones.

question
Is this cord compatible with the iPad Mini 3? I just got it in the other day and have been running tests on my mini 3. Can get audio to the headphones but cannot get the mic to work. Thought maybe I got a bad cable but now I am thinking maybe it is not compatible at all. :/
Andrew, I have to apologize as we have not yet tested with the iPad mini 3. We have tested with the vast majority of Apple products with great success. Most devices from apple are utilizing the same trrs pin-out and handle signals the same way.Its possible that we need to review the product with the iPad mini 3 and test further, its also possible that you received a cable that inst working properly- which is a very rare occurrence with our QC processes. Or another possibility is how garage band is handling the signal itself. Please make sure the cable itself is seated fully in the iPad, and please reach out to us to trouble shoot on the phone. We will not be able to test compatibility until we purchase receive and bench test in our R&D lab.you can reach us at 845.246.1915 or 800-543-0909 - Ask for Sescom Tech support, and or Dan. we can walk you through a few tests that may help us determine the failure point.

question
Can you piggy back these? I am wanting to use the Rode Wireless filming mic, with the Mcam iPhone 6S Plus case. I need to have the Wireless mic, another wireless mic and headphones.
Piggy-backing/Daisy-chaining is not recommended. A better route to take would be to use a small mic mixer such as the SES-DSLR-MIX1 or the SES-DSLR-PROMIX.

question
Does this work with iPad Air 2, iPhone 5, or iPhone 6 Plus with a Sennheiser G3 wireless? I just bought three of these cables and there's no audio in the headphones on any of them with this cable.
On Item: IPHONE-MIC35-1 the monitoring jack is available during playback only. A portable powered mixer would be the best solution if you need real time monitoring. The input/outputs on these devices do not allow for simultaneous recording and monitoring unfortunately.

question
We have a small Assisted Hearing Device where the transmitter is a lav, and then the small receiver that also transmits the the signal to the hearing devices. What I'm hoping to do is come out of the headphone jack on the receiver (only output) to the iPad to use that clean audio for my live stream. Will this work for that?
Could work.. Give it a shot and let us know.
