Key Features
  • E-Mount Lens/APS-C Format
  • 36mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/1.8 to f/22
  • One ED Element & Two Aspherical Elements
Practically distortion-free and featuring a fast f/1.8 maximum aperture, this Sonnar T* E 24mm f/1.8 ZA Lens from Sony will help APS-C E-mount shooters capture difficult scenes with ease. Offering a 36mm equivalent focal length, this lens is a common choice for street, interiors, landscapes, and general photography. Also, thanks to the use of one extra-low dispersion element, two aspherical elements, and the Zeiss T* coating, shooters will enjoy images free from aberrations and flare. Operation is speedy as well due to the use of a fast and silent linear autofocus motor and an internal focus design, which permits focusing as close as 6.3" for close ups with a 0.25x magnification. Additionally, it has a seven-blade circular diaphragm for smooth, round bokeh.

can i use this lens with my sony a7 or a7r
Asked by: Anonymous
While the SEL24F18Z 24mm f/1.8 E-Mount lens can be used on the a7 and a7R, it is not a full frame lens. This means you will need to shoot in the cropped sensor mode with this lens.

question

On the a6000 series camera how does the image quality compare to the Sony fe 28mm f2.0 lens?
Asked by: Mark C.
This is a higher quality lens than the Sony FE 28mm F2.0. This is a Zeiss Sonnar lens which has better caliber optics and a nicer overall build quality. It will product a superior overall image.

question

Hello.....Will this lens operate & fit seamlessly on my A6000 without the need to sacrifice any of the camera's functionality? Will this lens also display the A6000's 179 phase & 25 contrast detection point because my previous Sigma 19mm lens did not? When I attach this lens to my A6000 will it be suitable to photograph high speed close up indoor/outdoor sports like table tennis & volleyball etc?
Asked by: Stuart B.
Stuart, you should not lose any of the A6000 fucntionality with this lens mounted. My wife uses this lens lot on her Sony nex 6. This fast lens (1.8) offers clear and sharp photos. She is quite pleased with it. I have not used it yet on my Sony A7. As for close up shots of indoor/outdoor sports as you mentioned with a focal lenght of 24mm you might actually get in the way of the athletes.
