Slik 611-353 Overview

  • 1Description

The Slik Mini Pro DQ 2-Section Aluminum Table-Top Tripod is a compact, versatile miniature tripod that finds a natural home on any table top. Built like a shrunken-down professional tripod – with twist-lock leg stage extensions and a rapid center column – the Mini Pro DQ includes a ball head and a quick-release plate.

Single-knob operation frees the head's ball so you can position your DSLR, point & shoot, or compact camcorder at almost any angle. The head features a slot that enables you to tilt the camera 90° for portrait orientation. Or you can use that tilt to point the camera forward as you brace the tiny tripod horizontally against your chest, for supported handheld operation that will result in steadier shots.

With a twist of the butterfly knob above the Mini Pro DQ's chassis, the tripod's center column extends 1.75". Extending this and the tripod's leg stages (via the twist locks) will achieve a maximum height of 8.9", a perfect vantage point for table-top or low-angle photography.

Rubber feet for non-slip operation on table tops and other smooth surfaces
Rapid center column extends 1.75" for quick minor adjustments to the height of the Mini Pro DQ
Twist locks free and secure each leg's stage

    Slik 611-353 Reviews

Mini Pro DQ 2-Section Table-Top Tripod is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from works, but it is hard to change QR plate This little guy is pretty nice for throwing in the camera case. With substantial effort, I changed out the QR plate because the one that comes on it was not compatible with any of the full-size heads. What is quick about screwing in a new plate for every mount? Slik is not the only company with a proliferation of plates for the sake of forcing replacements. There is loctite between the ball head and QR base so I used a soldering iron to heat it loose. Once off, I realized that the thread is not standard 1/4 or 3/8 so I drilled and tapped a 10 x 1mm bolt for 8 x 1.25mm to make an adaptor to install the DQ-20. (There is no such heli-coil since the pitch does not match)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice compared to most I have tried! I use this often for smaller video cameras and my dslr. The only issue I have with it is the small screw for tightening the release plate to the camera. I hand tighten it instead of using a dime or screwdriver, because most often I don't have either on me. With that being mentioned, when I set my camera and a different angle, my camera tends to move because the screw isn't fully tighten after I gave it a lot of effort to make it tight by hand. Other than that, the tripod is great and travels with me everyday in my backpack. To me, it's the best bang for the buck compared to other small tripods.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Mini Tripod Originally purchased for general tabletop use with a DSLR this tripod has been utilized as a chest pod (as suggested in previous reviews) and a smart phone stand (with tripod adapter). Quality construction and a removable ballhead with a quick release system were the major reasons for purchasing this model. I owned a Slik tripod 35 years ago and it was great to see the brand is still around! The only negative is the cost of additional quick release plates. The quick release system with plate is a little more but the entire ballhead would be a smarter buy (on second thought I'll just buy another Mini Pro DQ II!). A storage bag was also included.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fairly solid little tripod I use it for 2 purposes: - Low-to-the-ground / tabletop angles - Holding an LED studio light for outdoor light-painting. Compared to other table-top tripods it is more substantial in design and construction and offers a quick-release plate. Altho it presents no real issues, I was a bit disappointed that the legs were plastic and not metal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mini Pro table top tripod I bought this product to use with a spotting scope. Althought well made and sturdy, it doesn't work as well with a large scope like my Swarovski because the scope is heavy so the tripod head wiggles slightly with the weight. Certainly usable but maybe better for smaller scopes or a camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product considering size For it's small size, this unit packs a lot of features. The removable ball head can be replaced if needed for a different style. This one functions similarly to larger Slik ball heads, although on a smaller scale. The removable release plate can be purchased separately (Part # 6252). The ball tightens enough for my Sony Alpha 55 DSLR with lens up to 200 mm. For smooth surfaces a suction cup on the bottom of the center post adds significant stability. Many of the lesser tabletop units are flimsy by comparison. The one negative so far is to tighten the quick release plate onto the bottom of the camera you use a coin. This is not something you may have handy in the field. A trade-off for size has been made opposed to the usual butterfly thumb screw. I wish it was just a little bit taller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Little Stand This is an awesome little stand! Legs spread out wide enough to accommodate the top/back side heaviness of the camera. No concerns of falling over when moved on the media cart. Excited about the piece that attached to the camera as it unclips from the base - makes real easy for traveling and reassembling at next destination. Bought for business use but would buy one for personal use.

I have a Nikon D750 along with the following lenses - Nikon 24-120mm F4, Nikon 70-300mm F4.5/5.6, Nikon 85mm F1.8G, Nikon 50mm 1.8G, and a Nikon 20mm F1.8. I'm sure they'll be no issues with the primes. Any issues using this tripod with either of the zoom lenses?

You may have problems with the zooms, as the Mini Pro III is only rated to hold up to 2.75 lbs.

The head does come off on that tripod. It is a thread so if you do put a different head on it, you might need a tripod bushing.General Brand Tripod Reducer Bushing 3/8 to 1/4 -20B&H # GBRB Mfr # NPTRB

Check the specs; but I easily use a 35mm on it with no problems on my table top. It would even work for my medium format.
