An ideal companion for long-distance use during extended periods in the field, on a stand, or at the range, Nikon's black 10x42 Monarch 3 ATB Binoculars are engineered for comfort and performance.

Featuring silver-alloy coated and phase-corrected roof prisms with anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics, the Monarch 3 produce bright and clear high-contrast images with accurate color rendition across the entire field of view. Their 10x magnification brings subjects up close to make positive identification or to discern fine details from long distances, while the 42mm objectives boost their light-gathering ability to improve views in challenging light such as during the pre-dawn and late evening hours or in foggy and cloudy weather. With the combination of prisms, optical coatings, and an exceptionally long eye relief, users can enjoy a comfortable and immersive observational experience in most lighting conditions.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that make these binoculars durable and comfortable to use. They have a lightweight, reinforced polycarbonate ATB chassis, and are protected by rubberized armor that is accented with indented palm rests to give them a secure non-slip grip. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature variations and environmental conditions. A one-piece ocular rainguard covers the eyecups as they hang around the neck and prevents rain and spraying water from filling them, and the objective lens caps are also tethered to keep them safe from being lost on the forest floor. This version of the Monarch 3 is offered here in basic black and won't draw attention whether used in the woods, at the stadium, or sightseeing around town.

Optical Performance
  • Powerful 10x magnification allows for detailed observations of distant subjects
  • 42mm objective lenses improve light-gathering ability without adding excessive bulk or weight
  • Roof prism light path ensures optical tubes remain thin for a compact form factor
  • Phase-corrected prism coatings reduce internal interference to improve light transmission, contrast, and resolution
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission across the entire visible spectrum for accurate color rendition and improved contrast and clarity
  • High-reflectivity silver-alloy prism coatings reduce internal diffraction to further improve light transmission and contrast
  • 299' field of view at 1000 yards
Use and Handling
  • Closed-bridge configuration provides a solid and stable platform for the internal focusing mechanism
  • Large slip center focus wheel allows for precise focus control, even while wearing gloves
  • Right eye dioptric adjustment collar helps to compensate for individual eye prescription
  • 56-72mm interpupillary distance range allows easy use by a wide variety of people
  • Twist-up/click-stop rubber eyecups for use with or without eyewear
  • Long 17.4mm eye relief helps to reduce eye strain and improves viewing comfort
  • Comfortable 4.2mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open in low light to keep the full scene in view
Construction Details
  • Environmentally friendly Eco-Glass is made without lead or arsenic
  • Lightweight and durable fiberglass-reinforced polycarbonate ATB chassis
  • Chassis material is temperature resistant, preventing the expansion and contraction that is common with metal, which can cause the optical components to move out of alignment over time and prevent sharp focus
  • Textured protective rubber armoring provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold and wet weather
  • Indents on the sides of the optical tubes are ergonomically placed where the hands naturally fall for a more comfortable feel in the hand and a more secure grip
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes and environmental conditions
  • Basic black color won't draw attention in the woods, at the stadium, or sightseeing around town
  • One-piece tethered ocular rainguard protects eyecups from water pooling in them from rain or spraying water when hanging from the neck
  • Tethered fold-down objective lens caps prevents losing them during observation sessions
  • Weight: 25 ounces

10x42 Monarch 3 ATB Binoculars (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Binoculars This binoculars have more eye relief than many and I can use them with glasses but I wish they had a little more. They are OK though. Aside of that they are really good in every respect, a little chromatic aberration but just a little and in extreme circumstances and most people would not notice, to get rid of that you would need $2000.00 ED binoculars. They are very clear and good in low light. These binoculars are great and I am sure they will last a lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for Birding The Nikon Monarch 3 8 x 42 binoculars were recommended to me by a birder. Cornell's Ornithology Lab concurred on the Monarchs, in general, so I decided, to get a pair. A friend suggested the 10 x 42 binocs for greater magnification with the tradeoff being that it is a bit harder to spot your target at the higher magnification. I have pretty steady hands and, as such, I am glad I opted for the greater magnification. These binoculars are made very, very well. They hold their interpupillary distance and individual eye adjustments well and the focusing adjustment is smooth as silk.Optically I notice no undesired effects at the edges of the viewing surface at all.The rubber covers on the objective lens are desirable, albeit a little looser than I would like, but the eyepiece cover (singular) is kind of hokey. It is possible to remove it from one side of the headstrap, but that's a pain, so I leave it attached to both sides, where it seems to get in the way sometimes. My complaints are really quite minor, however, and I'm glad I bought them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Binoculars! Super Service from B&H My wife and I use binoculars mainly for birding. We've limped along with a lower price pair before deciding to spring for the Nikons. We are very pleased with them so far. The image is incredibly clear. The Nikon warranty has to be one of the best around. We have a feeder on our back porch, so we really appreciate the close focus. Nothing but good to say so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product This is a great product. The optics are very good with excellent clarity and sharpness and they perform very well, even in dim light. The quality of construction is excellent as expected when you buy Nikon, and the price is unbeatable at this level of performance and quality. I have no problem using them with or without glasses. The only problem is that the lens caps do not stay on. Although this is relatively minor, it is annoying and enough to give them a 4 instead of a 5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around Bought as a gift for my father. He uses them on hikes, bird watching off the back porch. He wears glasses and these are comfortable. He also tends to throw them in the back seat going to work. The rubber housing seems to protect them well enough.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice idea for a gift We've purchased Nikons before, and felt these would make a nice gift for our staff this year. They loved the idea! Just wish the lens covers would stay in place a bit better.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Binoculars returned I was disappointed by the alignment of the optics. I felt they had double vision and thus caused eye strain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sight for four eyes I wear glasses and did much research about which binoculars would work for a trip to Costa Rica. After talking with birding friends and the helpful representative from B&H, I got these Monarchs. I am really excited to use them on a tripod for long watches and they are not too heavy to haul around on the trip. These are the first binos that I could actually adjust to my eyes, with my glasses on, and see great detail with a quick focus. I love them and look forward to seeing EVERYTHING! The attached lens covers are the best!
