Part of the Varidrive system for easy raising and lowering of seamless paper, the Varidrive with Black Chain from Impact has adjustable inserts that tightly grip each side of the various sized seamless paper rolls. The Varidrive is then inserted into hooks like the Impact ME-122, ME-123 or the triple hook VPD-H3W. With the exception of ME-122 which fits in a Super Clamp, the other hook sets are bolted onto the wall.

You can load three rolls for example, onto the VPD-H3W. Each roll requires another Varidrive kit. You can purchase color-coded units to clearly identify which roll you're raising and lowering. The Varidrive can handle seamless rolls measuring up to 9' wide and weighing up to 22 lb. To strengthen large coreless rolls and prevent bowing, Cross Poles (VPC-5) are available from Impact.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good solid product These rollers work well. Very smooth. Easy to hang and adjust. I have the other Impact rollers with a metal chain and to be honest, I prefer those. I tried this one set with plastic chain to see if it was worth it to save near $30...hard to say. The plastic feels flimsy when you pull on it where you feel you could almost hang off the metal version. Same operation, same build otherwise. I'll probably upgrade the chain for the $$it's sold for. No question the rollers work well though, I use mine with 2 PVC and some Manfrotto aluminum cross poles made for use with these sorts of rollers. Can't understand why I'd go with anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value I'm currently using three of these impact varidrive chains for cored paper measuring around 20 feet long (9' wide). The rolls aren't heavy and these are providing excellent results so far. These are made well and I don't foresee these breaking any time soon. I do plan on adding a vinyl backdrop down the road at which point I'll be wise to invest in a metal chain instead. I've also attached a 20 foot long muslin (9' wide) to a core and rolled it up no problem with these plastic chains. If a chain happens to break I have PLENTY of extra chain length to replace it with as I'm using less than half of it in a room with 8' foot ceilings. I would buy these again at this great price!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great idea, execution lacking.... I loved the concept for this product and while the adjustable cores work as described, the chain is so flimsy! Whenever I need to adjust the roll (roll it up or down) I inevitably end up snapping the chain! I have now detached the weight and have tied the chain into a knot in order to keep it in place. In conclusion; chain is very cheap quality; breaks constantly and does not lock but the cores work fine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well, kinda pricey for all plastic Product works well but I wish it came with aluminum chains or something a little more durable and professional looking. Other than that, it works nicely. Just wish it was a bit cheaper for all the plastic.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some things to be aware of Purchased the set of 3 with the brackets, have a 9 ft seamless paper white, black, and greenscreen on them. I really like that I can pull them down with a chain instead of lowering backdrop stand, unscrewing one side, sliding off 9 ft tube, sliding new one on, raising back up...ugh. I also have them in my high school classroom, and this should be a lot easier to use/switch with less chance of injury. There were a few things I learned from reviews, and other things that I didn't expect: 1. It does not come with enough screws you'll need. I highly recommend putting a piece of wood on the wall and screwing it through the drywall into the wall stud, and then screw the bracket into the wood. The length I had to space the brackets apart would only have been able to screw into a stud on one of the ends. 2. I had 2 rolls of standard (Savage) 12yd seamless paper that were on cardboard tube cores 2.25 diameter, and they fit fine. But I also had a roll with a larger diameter that will not fit which was disappointing. Your paper or muslin may not have a core, if not there are products for that on this site. 3. They have a limit on how much weight they will hold, which means 12 yard length is good, but 50 yard length of paper will be too heavy for it. 4. The paper is not unrolling to come down, it's getting stuck. This site sells a Manfrotto background paper counterweight but much cheaper is getting a 10 ft pipe (electrical or pvc) from your local home improvement store. 5. Apparently with the 9' rolls (6' are fine) of paper with the cardboard cores they can sag over time and become hard to unroll. Some reviewers rotated their paper 180 degrees every so often, others had never had a problem. Plastic/metal - Quality seems fine, there were two makes available for the same price when I bought, and I like these chain colours a little better. I'm very excited with the setup, and I'll be taping the pipes on the bottom of the papers next week to complete the process!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control The threaded rod on one side was not threaded as long as the other side thus preventing it from being tightened to hold inside the paper roll. I was able to reverse the knob on that side and it works OK. But this is a pretty bad QC error by the manufacturer.
